Hi all, one problem fixed and another one appears 😂

I'm having an issue with my windows both sides won't go up or down. It started by the window going down to half way on its own it wouldn't let me put it back up so pressed the roof down button and went down all the way, got hit home took the door panel off to see if it's an issue with the connection and that's fine, with the door panel off I was fiddling with the buttons and the passenger side went up but now won't go down when I open and close the door it drops a bit then goes back up as normal. Drivers side is still being stubborn and won't go back up. Anyone have any idea what is causing this? I checked the fuses and they all seem fine so a bit stuck on what to look at next.

Cheers Brad

Search on the forum for window reset.
I have given that a try the issue is my windows don't go up and down to do so, they only move when I open and close the door. I have recently disconnected my battery when I was cleaning the car to take the seats out would that have caused any issues? The airbag light is on as well would that be causing the issue? Still to find what's causing the light to appear

How quickly did you unplug the seat connectors after disconnecting the battery?

Is the battery good? Others have started to get electrical gremlins when the batteries become weak.

I'd say maybe 5 minutes after. The battery does seem strong no issues or blips apart from this

5 minutes may not have been long enough. People say leave the battery disconnected for 20/30mins before unplugging anything electrical.

This won't have caused the windows to malfunction, well I think it wouldn't have.

1st, with the key not in the ignition, remove one of the battery cables and then let the car sit for an hour. Afterwards, reattached the battery cable and then try the windows. If no go:

Double check the battery by jumping the car thru the engine bay with cables hooked to a good battery from a doner car. With the cables attached will the windows work. If yes, the battery in the Z4 is weak. If no:

It might be a GM5 issue. I believe the GM5 has control of the windows. Prior to doing anything use a code reader to see if there are any codes which will confirm that the window problem is tied to the GM5.
