Windows wont go up after roof is closed

So the other day I took my battery off to do some work on my car. I put the battery lead back and took the roof down the Windows went down. Roof went back up but windows do not go back up. They stay down.have to manually put the back up Can this be a reset if so, does anybody know how to do it thank you.

I disconnect my battery regularly. Are you leaving your finger on the button long enough ? After the roof has opened or closed , leave your finger on the button and the windows should work.

Yes like i always do to put the roof back up and keep holding until windows go back up to closed position and the dont go up have to release finger off button then manually window them up as normal with the window switch

What work did you do on the car?
Is it possible you disturbed the hall sensor on the left roof hinge that tells the car that the roof is fully up?
Does the roof lock shut properly and the red light go out?

Every time I take the battery off I have the same, have to go through the reset process each time, multiple times before it finally works as it should.

The reset that works for me is the minimum 10 seconds up and down (and I have to do it for the passenger side window, not the drivers side)

Z4 window reset -

Passenger window should be in closed (up) position.
Hold down to open window and wait for 10 seconds once at bottom.
Pull up to close window and wait 10 seconds once at top.
Repeat once more.
