had to restart my pc and when i tried the windows loading screen with the windows logo stayed on....and didnt get any further...
ince then ive tried many restarts, tried starting in safe mode but it shows the screen of drivers tht its loading and then gets stuck on one and doesnt progress, tried to do a memory test, tried using the windows 7 startup repair option and it doesnt fix it, tried the thing where you start the laptop from last known successful boot which also does nothing, think its called system restore...
ive gone onto the BIOS page but doesnt really mean much to me....

any help guys? its an advent pice of crap laptop...only had it a few months though, naturally ive not got any paperwork...i reallyyy dont want to buy a new laptop this time of year, especially with inspection 2 on the horizon....cheers guys...

Sounds like it's just a software problem. Should be fixable, if you have the windows 7 disk and some idea what you are doing. Otherwise somewhere like PC world should be able to sort it.

As for Advent, my Mrs had one. She doesn't have one any more. Nuff Said.

going to try the startup repair option again and if not i ll just keep working down the list
will be the fourth repair ive tried but i selected it via a different window and tried the system restore....
bloody computers....
good 250 gig of porn on there too so i dont wanna lose that :x

Woots Poot wont Boot! :D

Not that it helps but I used to get this all the time and have a pile of Windows hardware that has crashed - have since switched to Apple - a whole new learning experience but worth it.

no final ideas guys? gonna hafta be a 50 quid upfront fee to currys i think...rubbish
least if they cant fix it i get the money back...
shameeee

Do you have the install DVD or does it just have a recovery partition? If you have the disk I'd just go ahead and reinstall yourself. 10:1 that's all the muppets at PC World will do

Try another safe boot, and when it stops let us know the last driver that loaded (the last one on the bottom of the screen). Sometimes it can give a clue

Make a note of the last driver that loads on a safe boot and post it up

naturally i dont have the dvd...when we moved i threw it out....
not sure what a recovery partition thing is? not really a pc geek....
the final driver tht loads is CLASSPNP.SYS
is tht means much to you?
its just staying on the loaded screen now, think after a while it goes to the black screen of death

Upon googling, it Seems to be a fairly common issue. Without the install DVD though I think you'll need to suck it up and take it to a repair shop

rubbish....
oh wellll
cheers tho matey

Take the hard drive cable off the motherboard and put it back in a different but same type of socket. Mine crashes on boot occasionaly but for some reason this fixes it.

I had an older laptop do this - it was a failure of the wireless network card. Switched it off, and the machine booted up OK.
