Windows Not Auto Closing

Hi all,

I've been having a small problem with my passenger side window. When I operate the one-touch close button to close the window all the way automatically it reaches about 3 inches from the top of the window, slows down and bounces back, winding down all the way.

I can overcome this by holding the close button, but when it reaches the same spot the window seems like it's straining against something, like it's struggling to close.

I've cleaned the glass quite extensively, but can't seem to work out why it's not closing properly.

Any ideas?
 
There must be resistance somewhere as the window thinks it is closing on something, as a safety feature it will automatically open again, ie a child sticking his or her arm through as it closes.
 
Yeah, that's what I figured, but I can't work out where the resistance is coming from and wondered if anyone had had a similar problem and knew a solution.
 
If there in no evidence of the window channel rubbers "rucking" up i would suspect the mechanism or possibly the motor.
Would be a case of removing the door card and having a look.
 
Have you tried the window reset yet it might be worth a try.

It sounds like a lot of friction, like the window slots are gunked up, but I can't see any evidence of it. Is the regulator easy to replace, or is it an expensive dealer job?

Thanks, I've tried that already, but it made no difference. :(
 
If it sounds a bit "crunchy" then my money is on regulator. The cables stretch and fray.

It is a fairly easy DIY job. About 2 hours and around 150 for the unit.

Door card off (there's a how to on here), unbolt old, bolt in new, card back on.

Take the card off and look for frayed cables.
 
I'll take the card off and take some pictures, see what you guys think. Thanks for the advice.
