window wiper motor noise

Hi,

just recently I noticed a horrible noise coming from the window wiper motor (i think). Essentially when I use the window wipers, a strange grinding type of noise emanates from the front of the car.

Anyone know how to check this out/had a similar problem?

the wipers dont seem to stop mid-way or anything, but thanks for the link - I'll take it apart this weekend and see what the problem is. Hopefully not causing more problems in the process

shaggy - as you note this will have nothing to do with the issue of wipers stopping after part cycle.

You'll need to take it to bits and see what's wrong. Remove the arms and then carefully the trim. It's on push fit clips that easily break off.

I'd run it with wipers arms back on and under load see if it's arms making the noise or the motor itself or even the bushes where the spindles pass though the trim.
