I haven't but I was thinking the same, want to wrap the roof gloss black then tint the rears, not too dark though, just for a nice transition.

Just an fyi, any film on your front doors would be illegal, though many do get away with it.

A tinted rear and black roof would look pretty slick. :D

I think you are allowed a maximum of 15% darkness on the fronts, so hardly noticeable, I wouldn't want them done really, just the rear window and the 2 quarters either side maybe?

Yes I thought the same as you Coupedan. My fronts are tinted very very lightly, the rears are OEM. From inside, the door windows to the eye look exactly the same as the windscreen, but look darker from outside owing to the nice small cabin of the zed with the rear bulkhead making the inside so dark! (If that makes sense)

70% transmission on the front glass and I'm pretty sure the cars are near that limit from factory.

Plus due to the lack of a sunroof/panoramic roof, the doors may appear darker which if a traffic copper was being fussy over, would rip your tint off.

I tinted all the windows on my old e86. Not to dark, but looked great  BMWZ4002.jpg
Used the same tint on my e89 too ! 1038285af9536199ee15b6508783b083_zps4a6cdd8a.jpg

Just checked with the boy that does my windows. 50% all round. Just remember fronts shouldn't be as dark for insurance purposes. Been stopped in my old car with traffics a few times & never mentioned.

That looks perfect. What percentage tint are the rear and sides ?

Thread resurrection !

I'm not sure , but I am having a tint guy round in a few weeks as BMW ripped the tint while fixing the regulator and decided not to tell me. After taking it back, they said the %is over the legal limit, so I have to have it redone at home. I can find out what it is when I book him to come.

Mine is factory. But remember the transistion on the rear windows where the dot matrix is, when being tinted by most firms will need to be scrapped down or worked in afterwards somehow. Most tinting I've seen leaves a lighter marked area over the dot matrix. As I've discussed with kammy the scrapping off of the dot matrix is ok but the most are afraid the rear heated window wires can possibly be damaged. I couldn't say for sure I'm sure though that someone on here will
