Any tips or cautions to take when fitting a new one, mine dropped the other day and so i ordered a complete new one genuine bmw part from euro car parts haha. Cant find a step by step any tips would be great thanks Sam

I did my passenger side last weekend after the cable snapped. I had the full regulator from BMW for £140 (cheaper than ECP I believe!).

When I took my door card off the sound deadening foam was already cut from a previous glass repair the last owner had done. They had just gone at it with a knife so I had to tidy up with tape after.

When you come to remove the glass you need the window down so the rear clamp bolt is level with the small round access hole beneath the air bag module. You can then loosen the torx screw. I removed my airbag module (disconnect battery first). The connector can be fiddly - unclip the black clip first and it then easily pulls out.

If you can't move your window then cut the old cables in several places so it can move freely.

The other end of the glass is in a metal clip. Do not remove this from the glass. In the metal channel is a white plastic clip on a ball joint with a metal spring clip to hold in place. Pull the retaining spring clip out and either slide the white plastic clip out of the channel attached to the glass or pop off the ball joint.

To get the glass out you need to remove the seal for the top of the door. Just inside the door opening pop off the triangle rubber section and then just pull the seal up off the door. There is then enough gap to remove the glass with the front clip installed.

Unbolt the old reg and remove. Refit the new one. It may help to compare your adjustment from old to new. The glass runner adjustment can be made once installed via access panels in the bottom of the door. The rear rail has a nut I. The underside of the door which can slide to adjust the fit of the window too.

Refit glass and rubber seal before trying as you may scratch the glass without the seal!

Before I tightened everything up I reconnected the airbag, then battery and ran the window up and down a few times to make sure it was ok.

After tightening all bolts before refitting the door card I checked the seal on the door rubber. I needed slight adjustment on the angle of the glass from the bottom rail nut to get a good seal.

Hope this helps! Have fun! Mark

all done took around 45 minutes fairly easy tbh i was expecting it to be alot worse, good job i had my brother helping me to hold the glass so much easier with two people. I get parts at a big discount, by being in the trade so it was 120 from euros

it is really easy pal to be honest, just need a few tools a spare person, maybe it was easier as i fitted a whole complete unit so it was already assembled just bolt in and plug and play, hold the window up button for 10 sec to set the closed height and store a memory for the window regulator
