Window Problem!!

Hi,

Went lower the window before setting off from home to clear condensation, it started to lower but did so slowly with an abrasive grinding noise.....

It went back up very slowly but now doesnt reach the roof! ive got a gap now! It will only go back down half way then stop, again with the grinding noise. And when putting it back up will always leave the gap now!!!

Any ideas? I would try resetting the windows as i read in one thread, but the window wont go down all the way to complete the set up!

Cant get around to stripping the door panel off to have a look untill Saturday. Ive read through all the window related threads this morning and looks as if it could be the window regulator...

Ive had a look in the parts and am unclear of the anatomy of the window mechanism - i have this diagram:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT52&mospid=47797&btnr=51_4859&hg=51&fg=10

Which bit is the regulator???

Any help/advice appreciated.

Chris

Thanks, good picture!!
Is there a "How To" guide anywhere for the replacement of the regulator, cant find one on this forum?

Just stripped the door down, and couldnt really see any particular part at fault, just sounded "abrasive2 when i operated the window. And then, the cable snapped!

So need a new regulator now, local staeler cant get one now untill Tuesday either so its on order.

If ther are any guides on how i can DIY this it will be appreciated, is it a hard job??

Hiya ... I havent done a Zed regulator but did do my 330, which was a bit of a job to be honest !

(A quick Google search returns a number of relevant Z4 regulator links)

Have a look at this link though, although its not a Zed, it will at least give you an idea of what you're attempting - look out for airbag info etc
