Window issues

Hi all,

2006 E86 coupe (facelift)

I'm currently having trouble with my driver's side window (front right). It has been totally dead with no movement up or down, and no sound from the motor. At first I thought the motor and/or regulator were at fault, but having stripped it down this might not be the case.

Both the regulator assembly and motor have been removed and separated. After this, I re-attached the motor to the car and tested it alone. The motor appears to turn when switched for raising the window. When switched for lowering the window, there is no movement.

Would this likely be an issue with the motor itself, or with the switch assembly? Note that the motor is the 6-pin variant for facelift. Also, a refurb kit for regulator assembly will be installed as the existing cables required cutting for removal.

Thanks in advance,
Karl

Sounds like the switch mechanism to me, take it out and thoroughly clean paying special attention to the rubber gromets, make sure they are pushed comletely home before re assembly.

Same in my new (to me) Z4M. I bought a new window switch from eBay. Yours is the same as mine, make sure you get the power folding version. Was about £40, problem solved.

You don't need to get the powerfold version which sells at a premium. Get a standard one, pop the top cover off and you'll see the slot for the powerfold button is already there. Transfer your button over and fit your current top cover to it.
This also means you don't have to look for a black one. Grey or beige will do too.

Thanks for the suggestions folks!

I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know if my model even had the folding mirrors as the button for this never seemed to work. Either that or the switch has been replaced previously and the wrong version installed.

I'll try to clean it up, and if not then a replacement will be bought.

Thanks again

I think if you clean the pin contacts on the plug going into the window switch as well then the folding mirrors may start working as well.
