Window Drop

I've noticed that if you double tap the unlock button, which is how you turn the lights on when approaching the vehicle in the dark, it for some weird reason drops the window nearly all the way down when you get in the car - WHY?!?!?! This is utterly bizarre! Is there an explanation for this 'feature'?

Yes
It's to make it easier to get in when parked in a confined space
It prevents the top corner of the window separating your ribs ;)

Intriguing!! I can safely bet that if I am ever in this situation I will completely forget about this feature and serrate my ribs in the process :)

It's a feature that I've never used and indeed was unknown to me prior to reading this forum.
I have however got a lovely intercostal bruise !

It is a bit of a daft feature in my opinion and I don't use it as for me it doesn't make it any easier to get into the car. Getting in and out with roof down and windows down is best!

I agree with Paul, I never park the Zed on the drive in all weathers but either park under the car port or in the garage what it's intended for. Without the window drop facility it would be literally a pain in tight spots where you can't open the door fully. If it didn't have this I probably wouldn't keep the Zed.

Tim.

Its especially important for me now as the facility to close the roof with the blade key has been removed at the upgrade of the security of the car.

Works a treat for me in the garage too.
But I do sometimes press the unlock twice by mistake when it's pissing down and get the inside of the car wet! :(

I too use it all of the time very handy feature for when some prat parks too close in car park when u arrive back

window out the way allows you to slip between the door and roof with the door more closed. if not your upper body/ arms catch the glass as the widows do face inwards. dropping the glass gives few mmor inches/ wiggle room.

Yes opening the roof is possibly better, but hay not in the rain in good old blighty.

I use it sometimes and its listed in the manual. Double hitting is also a pain, especially if you use the window to push open the door a bit wider.

Hay dukes of hazard did not use doors.

this doesnt work on mine...i've just tried it...does it need to have some comfort pack on or something for this feature to work???

Probably Andy. I haven't got comfort access but did get the comfort pack I think.

The feature does have to be switched on though. In I drive under settings there is a locks option and the comfort box needs to be ticked. Probably same without I drive.

i dont have Idrive...and i dont know if it has comfot pack.....so i guess i wouldnt know where to find the locks options...maybe i should read the book but i like to find these things by accident!!!

Have a route around in settings. You can adjust what the open button does ie whether it opens just driver door or both doors on one press, window drop and auto relock.

ah i found it....turns out it was enabled....its just i thought it would go down when i pressed the button the second time...it does do this...but only when i open the door....maybe that was said in the OP like

lol. this has been a standard feature since post face lift on the old zd. I cant remember it on the 03 but 06 onwards.
