Windblocker Choice? Input needed

Am considering getting a wind deflector and have been looking at the OEM netting type one that fits over the roll bars with netting between them, one with netting in frames, or a acrylic type that attaches to the roll bars with straps.

The netting type one is more money, but if price were not the consideration, which one would you get and why?
Looks, function, storage ease?

Thanks,

Here's a couple of different types:

I've got the factory one. Works fine and is tidy. Stores on brackets on the inside of boot lid for when you have the roof up although it stays in place all year round.

Must be OEM as it is designed to let air through, acrylic does not solve the wind issue so is pointless. Had my over the hoop version since purchase in 2007 and it does a great job.

Pic 2 framed works well for me, pic 1 (the gimp bra) takes too much explaining when it's found behind the seats.

OEM netting with frame is how I roll, has worked fine on both my Zeds. Stores really nearly inside the boot lid as well. No inconvenience at all.

OEM netting with frames looks the best and works well, mine came with the car though so I didn't have to consider the cost compared with cheaper alternatives.

Well that was a decisive set of responses then :)
OEM mesh it is - every time. That's what I too have and think it does the job as well as possible. Functions the best than acrylic and looks better than the slip on OEM

Well, that does seem decisive; expensive though, I may have to save up for them. I also didn't like the net with bra type.. looks sort of sadistic, I would pick the acrylic sheet over it, I think. The install for the framed net does seem rather involved though.
Am still wondering though, besides the looks (I too like the framed net type), does the netting or the acrylic sheet have an advantage for noise or wind buffiting reduction, and why? Also, any problem with rear vision at night with the netting?
Have any of you actually compared one against the other, or owned both and are familiar with them?
Thanks

I received the clear acrylic one from roadstersolutions.com, and got it installed this weekend. It's a clean install. I plan to leave it in all of the time.

The acrylic one certainly gives better vision and Ive seen them with personalised etching on them, which can look nice, but I dont think anything beats the OEM one for performance or practicality.

Prices do seem to be rising though. ive sold a couple of OEM omes around the £85 mark but I see there are some on Ebay now for £135-£160 !!! A bit too greedy/optimistic IMHO.

If you run a search it's been covered many times. The mesh design slows air movement and reduces draughts. The acrylic (or anything solid) causes the air to roll creating turbulence.
Night vision is fine as all you need to see is headlights and in any even they are usually removed in Winter and stored when being darker matters.

Withoutt doubt the oem mesh is the harder install but by far the superior end result.

No doubt the mesh does effect visibility especially in the dark, particularly when parking with the roof up and no PDC.
However it does unclip very easily from the driver seat and clips back in the same so its easy to get it out of way.
I think its quite telling that Porsche went from a clear plastic one on the 987 boxster to the mesh on the current 981.
its just a shame it does impact visibility but like i say its a doddle to remove, if a little inconvenient

Netting with frame is my vote and what I would spring for when I do decide to install one :)

My current Zed had an aftermarket clip in acrylic wind blocker fitted by the previous owner. It's absolutely useless and IMO doesn't seem to make any difference. In fact I reckon it might even be worse!

It would make it worse than nothing as it causes air to roll over the windscreen onto you as opposed to flowing down and in line with the cabin, but at much reduced speed. It's the turbulence that makes it feel uncomfortable.

Mine is fitted with acrylic from Windrestrictor.com and is fantastic. I have had no issue with turbulence and it reduces road noise so conversations in the cockpit are at a normal volume.
