Wind Noise?

Hi all hope everyone has recovered the festive seasons indulgences?

Any-ways just thought I get some feed back on the amount of Wind Noise that is acceptable for the Zed. I know it's going to be difficult to judge, but as this is my first ever convertible I have nothing to compare it to. Cabin noise generally is pretty good but it when I get up around the 70 mark that it starts to become a tad intrusive. So is this normal? and do we all just turn up the volume of the music which is okay when your on your own but not always pleasant for the passenger as conversation becomes kinda impossible. The wind seems to penetrate the window seal at speeds over 70 mph. :!:

This doesn't sound right.

With the roof up, I can drive at high speed with no music on and still hold an intellectual conversation.

Need to get your seals checked I fear.

No that isn't right. I've had absolutely no wind intrusion at any speed.

Try to track down exactly where it's coming from and get the seal re-seated or if neccessary replaced

ok thought as much I've had a look where I hear it above my right ear, seal doesn't look worn or distorted. But I will investigate further.

cheers

are you sure the window is set right ? and is sealing when the door is closed ? just a thought :)

+1 on this

As my passenger window came loose so i had to take off the door panel and tighten - however the window wasnt alligned and i had wind noise until i corrected it

Sounds exactly like this.
I had a similar problem but after resetting the window function it sorted it.

You have to complete these steps without any breaks

• Open door window fully
• Operate and hold window switch in the "Close" position
• Once the window is fully closed, hold window switch in "Close" position for another 2 seconds
• Open door window fully
• Operate and hold window switch in the "Close" position
• Once the window is fully closed, hold window switch in "Close" position for another 2 seconds.

After this the window should drop slightly when opening the door and then raise back again when you close it.

Hope it helps

My car with its softop has less windnoise then most of my friends with hatchbacks!

Def need to reset the window position if you hear noise above them.

I noticed mine were letting some water when washing my car; and the doors never frozen shut (as the windows didnt need to drop for the door to open) so reset my window position and now their is a heatlhy drop in the windows when the doors open.

I had this when I bought my current Z. I reset the windows as per the instructions above. Fed the seals with gummi pfledge and adjusted the striker plate on the door a teeny amount. Got rid of the noise completely.

You can test the gaps between the seals and glass by closing the door with a bit of paper wedged between. On my passenger side it was pretty hard to pull the paper out without ripping. On the driver side it slipped straight out where the seal meets the window just above the door.
