wind noise roof up

How quiet should the car be with roof up? Getting some wind noise from the uncovered bit of roof mechanism behing my right ear at 70mph. Is this normal? There not a lot and I can live it but if it should be quiet then I'll get dealer to look at it.

Is the window shifting up half an inch when you shut the door?

Impossible to say really without hearing it, where are you based? Maybe someone nearby could take you for a drive to have a listen? Mines as quiet as expected and I don't really notice any wind noise.

There isn't much noise at all but it sounds like something isn't fully sealed if this was a saloon car I'd be talking ti dealer.... that being said it was very windy yesterday and this maybe normal for the e89.... ste yours is e86 isn't it?

Afraid I haven't been in an e89 but have been in a new slk and there wasn't any wind noise what so ever if that helps, and i'd expect the e89 to be at the same standards

Ah yeah didn't realise this was in the E89 section, my bad 8)

My E89, no wind noise with roof up. Road noise from run flats is a factor though. One of the noisier roadsters in that respect. Boxster was quieter.

I find the wind noise in my E89 is acceptable (for the nature of the car) with the roof up

However tyre roar from the runflats is a tad annoying.

The runflats are pretty kak in several ways if I am honest :(

At least they have tons of grip!

Cheers

Wind noise minimal with roof up, agree with the above that tyre noise is main contributor to overall levels...

old z4 had little road noise from top, 10 plate had even less. 62 plate has less road noise from the runflats must be the m sports suspension, and less exhaust sound 10 plate was 3.0 new is 2.8 ummmm.

I do remember the 10 plate rattling in cold weather. Had major rattling in the 03 but nothing in the 06 and 08.

The 06 had a stone chip which was repaired badly and cracked so auto glass replaced with non bmw glass, I did question this but the installer said it was the same stock as bmw, and it was shocking the curved edge had major air bubbles in. I noticed that after some time up at 60mph had wind noise. Took to bmw to check and they found major water leak in the glass, infact the glass was not sealed at all in over 3/4 of the screen leaving the car intrinsically unsafe and it was cracked at the lower section in the black area, due to a cam shell chip that had propergated. bmw did not charge me for this. Auto glass replaced the glass for a bmw stamped glass. I will never ever have any other glass other than a bmw stamped oem. dont be conned that its the same glass.

I've noticed compared to my last 3.0 roadster that I had for 5 years the ///M roadster has more wind noise at motorway speeds. This is coming from the top-rear of the side windows. Are there any suggestions for solving this? Adjusting / replacing seals etc perhaps?
