Wind Noise from window seal

Ive got a 2003 2.5 Z4, and ive started to notice alot of wind noise coming from the rear seal of the drivers window.

Ive searched it on the fourm and done the window reset, the window its self is not loose at all. The seals look like fresh rubber, not perished in any way.

Does anyone know any other adjustments i can make to tighten this seal to get rid of the wind noise?

Pictures of where the seal is not quite touching (paper slides through easily when door closed at the point shown):

Yup, have done the window reset: "lower windows and hold the lower button for 20 seconds, then put window up and hold in the up position for 20 seconds" didnt make a difference im afraid :-(

I think you may be in window adjustment territory - plenty of threads on here about this if you want to do it yourself, but IIRC it's a wee bit fiddly.

bing, you think adjusting the catch plate as described here to give a tighter seal would be a good idea: http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24797 ?

I know that this is probably unhelpful, but that big red arrow you've superimposed on your roof is making me very pleased I opted for red stitching for my seat retrim... looks great :D

Sorry. I'll leave you in peace now....

I can't wait for the pics of your new interior mrlozzer!

With the window, I had the same thing and pulling the door in a tad with the catch plate worked a treat

Yup, as Oli has said too, this would be a simpler place to start

The screws are really, really tight - just make sure you do them back up as tight when it is in the right place

I recently fitted a new window regulator on the passenger side a bit of fiddling with the catch plates and I was able to get the window fitting perfectly. As has been said just make sure you do the screws up properly or the window will soon move out of position. I need to get round to adjusting my drivers window now as that does not seem to sit as neat as the passenger one.

I don't know what year yours is but there is this SI bulletin regarding the window adjustment. I had the same issue and bought and fitted the clips as described. If you want some info on how to actually get at the window adjustment mechanisms PM me your email address and I'll send you all of the PDFs

Thanks all for the replies and very detailed how tos.

I adjusted the catch what the door closes onto this morning to bring it closer to the centre of the car, closed the door and it sealed perfectly!

Drove to work with a nice refined, silent cabin!

So anyone with wind noise, adjust the catch that the door locks onto to be closer to the centre of the car first before pulling all the door cards off etc :-D

Old thread I know, mine does this will adjust it tommorow! Hope it sorts it as I always tune into it now :headbang:

Ah, just what I was looking for! I've just had the regulator replaced by the dealer and I've noticed a bit of water ingress and also wind noise and so was hoping to be able to sort it out myself without having the visit the dealer again. Hopefully this should work, but not going to try at 2.45am, neighbours might mistake me for a car thief!

Hi, did the adjustment of the door catch work for you? I have the same issue, and curious to see if that fixed it for you? I have also done a windows reset and still slight noise from passenger side,
