Wind in your hair or not

Am looking at purchasing a wind deflector for my E85 z. Have trawled various sites and noticed that there appears to be more than one genuine BMW unit to fit my car. One of these has the unit attached to a type of headcover?? which i presume is the easisest to fit, and the other comes with a complete fitting kit/frame.
Any advice as to which is the best? i only want a genuine BM part based on previous experiences, and where would be the cheapest place to get one? Will check the forum in case one for sale in the meantime.

The genuine one is the frame thats attached to the roll bar/headrest bits. Two bits on plastics either side and the deflector sits in them.

I always have this in! Even when the roof is up. I remove for the winter though, as it can affect vision.

The one that slips over the roll bars is OEM too... It ain't pretty though, commonly referred to as the gimp wind deflector. You're best with the mesh / metal frame one - though you may find that you either need new roll hoop covers with screw holes pre-drilled, or you'll have to very carefully do it yourself. Obviously :D

I have the gimp version.

It may not be pretty, but it stays in all year round. In fact I have never taken it off since I got it!

It isn't the prettiest, but it does the job well. I can cruise at 70 on the motorway without too much buffeting. Way better than without.

I can't comment on the "fitted" one, but the gimp works for me!

I have the non gimp mask. Like it. It's permanently fitted unless the hardtop is on....

Either one is effective, all comes down to whether you're ok with the gimp look. It's not all that bad... :)
