Wind Deflectors

Has anybody bought or tried one of the clear lexan wind deflectors you can see on ebay from America? £100+ for a mesh one from the UK is a bit steep.

They are much cheaper than the UK equivalent. I want to get one, but would like to know that they make a difference and do the job well before parting with my cash.

Any of our American members like to let me know?

Thanks

We're using the blocker sold by www.roadstersolutions.com.

It works very well and looks good. Many others have voiced these same sentiments.

I'm not sure how you'd get it shipped to the UK or how much that might add to the cost.

Good luck,
Bill

Build your own, it is easy and there are instructions on this forum. Total cost will probably not be over $25.00. Here is a photo of mine I made and it works very well. Wife does not even get her hair messed up and that is a blessing. :)

I'll chime in and say based upon reading other threads, if you have the know how, custom building is the way to go.

Me I didn't bother, I just bought the clear plexiglass one from roadster solutions (someone mentioned the link already) and that one is awesome, easy to install and really cuts down on the wind well, even at speed.

I've noticed on the pics at "Roadster solutions" that there are two small pieces that go inside of the roll bars. I'm wondering if that's really necessary? I would probably make my own too.

My homebuilt one does not have the little ones inside the hoops. I could have made them, but tried it without them and the deflector worked so well that I felt I did not need them. Believe me my wife will not ride with me if her hair gets mussed up at all and with the deflector and the windows up there is very little air causing problems in the cabin area. She now rides with me with no complaint except that I am going too damn fast for her liking. :(

Also guys, building one is not hard at all and simple tools can be used for construction. I am going to offer in the future a little template and instructions including tools needed to build one.

I am a total butcher as far as home fixer up stuff so if I can do it someone with younger hands and eyes could construct one better than I. :)

Any chance you could post the "how to" soon? I really want to get one sorted before the "summer" is over and would be keen to have a go myself if it is easy. The alternative is to just keep searching ebay to try and get a bargain.

See this thread if you are interested in making your own:
