wind deflector

the fabric on my wind deflector has a hole in it ! has any one replaced the fabric ? had an idea of fitting some smoked perspex into it any one done this ? where would i get the bits for the job ?
thanks guys

How'd that happen? Just wear/tear? Or did something hit it? Or i guess most likely is you've no idea, just noticed it one day?

i ve only just got my car , but i expect some thing in the boot has caught it while it was stored in there , mine was only a small hole but im a perfectionist

Well since its knackered you've nothing to lose by experimenting. Maybe glue a perspex insert in or use some strong speaker fabric, there must be plenty of options..just have a go....I've seen a couple of inserts in fleabay this week but rip-off prices....like £120 or so....

i ve already raided my mrs s tights draw but thats too thin , quite like the perspex idea but not sure where to get some , i seen them on ebay dont think they justify that sort of money

Slightly off topic guys but I recently bought an Oem deflector off ebay but my car does not have the brackets on the hoops behind the head rests.
Where would be best to buy them, approx how much, & is it an easy job to fit them on?

I've never paid any attention to see if they are the same as the ones in the car or not but have a look at this one:

I think actually this might be the one you need:

Its a standard rip where some tightass removes the centre section when he sells the car and sticks it on eBay, without telling you that its then missing the two inserts for the roll bars (which I think are not removable after fitting) and usually the fitting clips as well (unless they've nicked them and left holes in the plastics).

And I'm not certain if you can buy a fitting kit on its own, I thought it was part and parcel of the standard OEM kit (which includes 1 x centre section, 2 x rollbar inserts, fitting kits for all three pieces, plus storage mountings for inside bootlid. And I suggest you ring BMW and ask for the price for the whole thing; you may well be surprised at how much you've paid for just one part of the kit.

I like to sometimes mail these wanky sellers and ask of they have the rest of the bits, cos they KNOW they are stiffing people and it pisses me off. :headbang:

Thanks Navid that is really helpful, will follow it up after doing as Lacroupade suggested & cheking with BMW first.

Lacroupade to be fair to the seller he did make it clear that he was selling only the deflector without any fixings, no complaints cos i only paid £36 in the end.

well thats a bargain so well done, no issue  good to see an honest seller for a change. Last two I saw on ebay the other week had a similar number but with a 1 in front

And don't lose heart, you may find the fitting kit is available seperately......try Coopers as they will mail order if you can't be bothered to venture out.
