Hey,
I just got a 08 z4 roadster si
I was wondering should I have gotten a wind deflector?
Is that standard or is that an option?>

btw im in the US

Thank.

I made one out of plexi and some aluminum channel. I thought it didn't make much of a difference, but I'm about 6'1 so my height may have negated the benefits. They are a cool place to put decals!

I bought one and it's made some difference for the better. I would say that if you live in a warm part of the US, then don't bother. :)

Its optional and there are two kinds, the rubbish strap-on flappy one that you pull over the roll hoops and the superior fixed one. The latter comes with two permanently fixed inserts inside the hoop and a removable centre section (stored inside the boot lid when not required) that fits to a set of clips on the outside edge of the hoops - all comes as part of the kit and is best installed by the stealer...some cheapskate owners remove the centre section when they sell their cars and put them on ebay.....but they are useless unless you were the victim of such skullduggery since you have to buy the whole kit again anyway to fit it!

IMHO the perspex ones are even tackier than the strap-on but no offence to anyone who's got one! :fuelfire:

As Richard said if you live a warm part of the US why bother i sold mine never used it and its not that warm here most of the time :(

I would say "get one", my girlfriend won't let me have the roof down unless it is in :)

First thing would be to check it isn't in the boot, the holder for the wind deflector is in the underside of the boot lid and might have just been left in there. Pretty sure it was an extra though, always buy one or as above make your own.

Hah! I have always wondered what those black strips are on the underside of the boot! I thought it would be for one of those bag things to put bits and bobs in rather than let it run wild in your boot. OMG, you learn something new everyday. Thanks

 happy to help  I just leave mine in all the time too, you get used to looking through the mesh though it does stop the auto dipping mirror dimming properly at night when cars are behind you.

isn't the purpose of the wind deflector to make it so there won't be a lotta wind going through the cabin?

i can understand 'ben.' 's girlfriend not letting the top down without one...i.e. hair flying all over the place lol
