Wind Deflector Help

Hi guys , In the middle of fitting my wind deflector retro fit.

I'm using the BMW PDF guide.I've removed the outta covers and now its asking me to remove the innner black covers? Not sure why for starters? Then it asks me to remove some of the webs/fins..Why again? THe inside of my new roll hoops looks exactly the same? The toque screws won't obstruct anything there too short?

Don't really wanna bother taking them off and removing cuting bits them for no reason? OR am i reading this thing wrong?

Kinda getting late and wanna get it done :(

I just installed on the new Z4 - but sounds like yours is an older model? Happy to help if I can...
 
Dont recall having to remove anything other than the outer covers when I did mine. As long as you can see the 4 holes where screws go I wouldnt worry and put the new covers on.

you mean the 2 screws on each hoop drivers side.. and passengers side? 4 in total ?
 
they suggest you remove the black covers to remove any lugs that may have snapped off and got left behind when you removed the silver covers.
 
I thought the same, why do you need to split the inner casing, I did the o/s then did not bother with n/s it all just clipped into place. Very strange mine was also a 07 facelift I noted the instructions I got were for 03 so maybe you do on earlier models.
 
mines an earlier model 2003.. and i don't see why i have to cut the tabs out either..I'm going to just fit it this weekend .. :wink:
