wind deflector fitting

Hi guys im a newbie so please forgive if this topic has been done to death :-)
I have recently purchased a 54 plate 3.0se.
My problem is removing the small deflectors in the rollover hoops to allow the fitting of a full width perspex deflector.
The clear velcro straps need to go through the hoops to secure it.
I have tried gentle persuasion to no avail:-)
Am I missing a trick or is there a cunning way to remove them without any damage;-)
Any advice would be appreciated.

Any advice before the hammer is unsheathed ;-)

I'm not certain Paul but I think you need to pull off hoop covers to release inserts and going by what I've read on here the clips break on the the covers sometimes. If you manage to get the inserts out I would like to buy them from you.

Hi Paul

To take out the small deflectors you will have to start by removing the rear covers of the roll bar hoops, you will have to give these some welly and prise them off and unfortunately you will probably break some of the clips that hold these covers in place (these are available new for reasonable money if you scout around for them) Once these are off you can see where the front cover retaining lugs are located and go around gently prising them from their home positions and remove the front cover. You will now see a webbed plastic two part cover held together with torx screws that covers the main steel roll hoops, this is where the small deflectors are clipped, in three places. Carefully release these retaining clips and they should easily come away. Make sure you cover the area that you are working as it can easily get scratched or damaged. Good luck.
