Wind deflector & black roll hoop covers

I'm trying to get the honeycomb wind deflector fitted to my black '08 Z4MR. I've spoken to a couple of places that seem to know vaguely what's what but I'm having a lot of trouble with the roll hoop covers. I gather that in the fitting process these need snapping off and therefore replacing; but I keep being told that parts numbers only exist for chrome or grey roll hoop covers - mine are black.

Has anyone had any experience of this, or able to offer any advice? I'm quite happy to do the fitting myself if I can get the retrofit deflector kit and some new covers.

RealOEM is only showing the finished you state.

Only other option if you cant locate is to get the silver ones and spray them, or get original black non wind deflector and modify.

Did someone spray yours black, or are they leather covered? I've never seen any other color but silver or gray.

They're original I believe, and definitely black. I'm told it's normal for the Z4Ms, but you wouldn't believe that speaking to the garages...

I'm going to try ringing BMW to see if they can help; it can't be just me! RealOEM suggests:

01 Covering left SCHWARZ 1 51438040735
01 COVERING RIGHT SCHWARZ 1 51438040736
02 Covering left SCHWARZ 1 51438040739
02 COVERING RIGHT SCHWARZ 1 51438040740

(at least, they're the only black ones I can find that don't mention leather) - from the E85 Z4 M3.2 Trim panel roll bar section.

Hmmm... I'm seriously considering the fabric one at this rate... I don't want to spend a lot of money and end up with grey/chrome roll hoops with it.
BMW customer service had a quick look before deciding they couldn't see black ones on the parts sheet; my local independent BMW dealer only knows about Z4s; my local main dealer tried to tell me that "chrome line" means black which I'm not convinced about - but he's going to ring BMW and see if the parts numbers I mentioned above might fit.

Is the fabric one any good? Has anyone else had a wind deflector fitted to a Z4MR?

those part numbers look ok to me.. isnt there a retrofit on realoem tho too? sure i saw it..

Fabric one looks cr#p on an expensive sports car IMO. You migt be better having a look at Roadster solutions clear glass jobbie. looks great and no drilling to install. $215
