Willy Wavers Moffat meet., a charitable event?

It's dropped about 25 miles to 180 miles and an alleged half hour of driving time from the original proposal.

As for dates it is possible we could clash with the National meet, not sure how many people are planning on attending that or I think we are looking at the end of the season, the latest date being the end of October or we miss out on the Ice Cream and I want Ice Cream :D

Hope u can arrange a date that doesnt clash with the National meet,as i am doing my best to attend a "Scottish meet",but they keep on clashing with lakes/natnl/wales meets,or my Wedding aniverasry(15th may,Skye),lol :headbang: ..and it would be good to have some fellow scots attend the Natnl meet :)

It's looking more and more likely that it will be towards the end of October ish.
As I'm supposed to be organising it it will have to fit in with my work commitments and I currently have no idea where I will be once I leave Tunisia on Friday :D .

Menmock Pass is one of my favourites for a Sunday morning though i prefer it from the A76 end Leadhills. I also had a look at the map route, the bit between B and c from the A78 to the A701 past Talla is a hell of a road. Really narrow with no passing places at some of the very narrow bits. It is awkward enough on a Motor bike and no fun in a car IMHO. That said i might bring the V1LAN out to play as this is my end of the world.
Fully intend having a proper recce and will check this out, don't want to take any risks in damaging any Zeds, but roads are scarce around there, any suggestions on alternatives grately accepted, though hoping to be through this bit quite early and hopefully avoid any traffic.

End-October works well IMO: don't think many folk have time between now and the Islay trip at the start of Sept, and this Moffat/Dumfriesshire drive can be a year-end drive perhaps. Ice=cream will be a good accompanyment/alternative to fish n chips... (and anyone wanting a meet between now and then can go to the national meet in a few weeks!).

That pic of Mennock Pass posted by jaxz4 - I know that spot. Mrs a11y and me parked there overnight in the campervan after arriving in pitch darkness and pishing rain. Was only when we got up in the morning in daylight we realised we'd actually picked an awesome spot to stay .

I would also be up for this meet as well.Looking at my rota i can manage the second last weekend in october 22nd + 23rd.
Hopefully get to this meet as i have missed out on loads due to my rota :headbang: :(

October no good for me, will be in Maine on my holidays :) :) , But don't let that get in the way of the majority

Richard I realise there are not that many roads about there but to be honest i would not even recce that road, have a look on google earth, the down hill bit to Talla reservoir is not fun at all very narrow with a wall on one side and a drop on the other. I like wee roads , look up my trip over the Bealach na ba last year, but that is not a driving road at all, more of a lane. The next left at the Gordon Arms, the b709 is a fair enough road but the lap to Peebles would lengthen the run a bit.

I like the rest of the route, I was through the Galloway Forrest last week and it is a laugh and staying off the a75 is a great idea. there were two fatal road accidents there last week, not uncommon, and as a result it is crawling with speed traps.

Someone mentioned holidays , i might be away in October so might miss the run :x

Ok, thanks for that Muppet, I'd already looked at the route up to Peebles but decided it was probably going to make the run far to long for a day event.
With that in mind I'm thinking it could be a good excuse to have 2 runs one this year and one next, one 'South' of the M74 and one 'North', any thoughts people?

With that in mind I might look at making the southern loop a little bit different and possibly more interesting.

Also thinking of timing 'I Will' be home for a couple of weeks early September for the Islay run which may push my next trip away into finishing late October early November, a bit later than planned and we miss out on the ice-cream :( , but it might allow some of you to attend who may otherwise have missed it :) .

Thanks for the heads up on the A75 I will be heading along it on Friday evening hopefully with the roof down and will resist the temptation to press on as I usually do.

 Keeping a watching brief on this.

The further south this comes, and the bigger the gap from Islay, the more likely I am to come.

This would be a nice wee end to the year. Depending when and where, we might even make a weekend of it.

I'd be interested in this run out, based over the border at Carlisle.
I'll keep an eye on this....

Just to throw a spanner in the works with this run. I have recieved an e-mail from another member suggesting that because the proposed date at of the end October clashes with Halloween that we could try to make it a Charitable Fancy Dress \ Drag run :o .
However there is a slim chance that my next trip away may run from the end of September right up until Christmas, in that event would people still be interested in doing the run at Christmas \ New Year, I personnally would still like to make it a Charitable Fancy Dress \ Drag run whatever happens, as long as it doesn't put people off attending :) .

Ok, as has been intimated in other threads it looks highly likely due to my work commitments that I will not be in the UK at the proposed dates for this run.

Would anyone be interested / able to make this a run around Christmas / New Year.

I would if we could still like to make this a Fancy Dress / Drag Charity run, though not exactly sure how we would go about raising money for doing so.

Your thoughts please.

Well one Idea I have is that I am constantly berated at work for driving a "Pimp Mobile" so I could suggest at work that if sponsored I would dress as a Pimp and allow Pics to be posted on the company intranet.

Just an Idea...

I'd be up for a run around Christmas/New Year. Really depends on my shifts but think I should be able to swap around to make it.

Making it a charity run sounds like a good idea - not sure how we could do it though.

I think a short/small drive around that time of year is the most we could hope for - not usually conditions for pushing on! Plus I'll be on my pram wheels and winter tyres by then.

But I'm certainly up for something. Perhaps we could be blessed by a bit of snow/ice then find a big carpark to play around in...

The inclemant weather at that time of year had crossed my mind especially with another bad winter forecast, we could leave it until the spring.
I just thought if we were going to go the whole hog and do the fancy dress / drag thing (I know you are dieing to wear your new frock Ally  ) we could capitalise on peoples goodwill at that time of year to increase charitable contributions.
With that in mind I did think maybe we should look at a different route one that could utilise town centres where we could try and collect donations under the supervision of our pimp Nowsa, Noosa (Huggy Bear) or is it No-sir :poke: .

your thoughts gentlemen and lay-dies.

I'll probably be on my daisys and have the hardtop fitted by then.
