Fully conscious that the dust has barely settled on the Rest & Be Thankful run and that we have 2nd Annual Pilgrimage to Skye in a few weeks :D followed by the long weekend in Islay in September :) :D .
Just wondered if anyone would be interested in venturing somewhere different, this is simply to gauge interest and may not happen for some time, due to the previously mentioned events and me not being in the UK much
Anyway very loosely thinking of something involving the Galloway Forest, Orgasmic Ice Cream @ Cream of Galloway, maybe some of the Galloway coast road though it's not the best road for going quickly or Z4's for that matter, just trying to keep off the A75 though it's not all bad.
Open to suggestions if anyone knows any good roads in the area and we'll see what comes of it.

Most definitely interested! As you know, I'm often in the area but never in the z4 - always in the van with bikes onboard. Certainly some good roads down that way. Perhaps taking in the road from Moffat to the Thornhill area, not sure on road number but its awesome even in the van...

Some great roads down there indeed - including past St Marys Loch and the Mennock Pass to Wanlockhead area - had a bit of a zed blast there last summer and would be well up for a run - heck knows when it can be fitted in though but I'm sure there will be plenty suppport for it. :driving:

I was going to post a couple of pics but photobucket is down ! - I'll do it soon.

Sounds good! Was wondering what the next run could be. Would definitely be up for it. Don't really know many of the roads around there so open to any suggestions.

I'm also hoping to get some pics from the weekend up, but unlikely to happen until I finish my stint on call (roll on tomorrow evening....)

Ok, so there seems to be a modicum of interest from the usual suspects, just who is Kaiser Soze?
Bearing in mind most people are going to have to drive a while to get there in the first place how far is it reasonable to make the drive itself?
Moffat would seem to be a good meeting place about an hour or so for most people (Ithink), we could head out towards the Devil's Beef Tub before turning off the A701and getting lost somewhere.
What I'm really struggling to do is think of somewhere to end up for lunch, the fish & chips around Kirkcudbright (if we end up in that area) are best described as crap at the best of times.
I'll have good look in an old fashioned Road Atlas when I get on home on Thursday :D and see if I can work out something that looks interesting and maybe even have a recce on the bike, just don't tell SWMBO.
Maybe even have a conversation about it in Skye (Not long now 8) ) over a long cold beer or two.

I would be intersted in this too,if the dates dont clash with anything else,as it would be good to meet some of u guys, and especially since i can't manage to make the skye meet.
Some good roads down that way too :driving:

Hi

If you are comming down to this area can I suggest a visit to Cream o' Galloway - good place for a stop if your touring round, they have wonderful ice cream ( try the Sticky Toffee and the Honeycomb Crunch .... mmmmm!) lovely home baking and a good parking area if your in a group. If your feeling the need to stretch your legs then there are areas for walking and for the more adventurous then try the Flying Fox or Down the Hatch!! or use up the calories that the ice cream put on and take a trip on the Kart track!!!

The roads round here are twisty but fun - and the scenery is fantastic, especially when you've got the top down.

Have a great time if you do make it to the "forgotten corner" - its well worth it

Orgasmic Ice Cream @ Cream of Galloway
If you hang around long enough you will find we are a friendly bunch even if there is a bit ribbing going on especially between coupe owners and those of us who know better.
Are you in the area? Or are just plugging the best ice cream in Scotland. :D

In a country where the maximum permissible speed is 70mph - 6 cylinders are just a bit more than absolutely necessary, and possibly verging upon willy waving.

If that is the case why a car with 150ish BHP and capable of almost double the limit.
I feel you do protest to much Malc, is it because in your heart of hearts you know you bought the wrong car :poke:
I've had the 4 cylinder engine in a couple of previous BMW's it is not a patch on the 6.

Still any takers on how far we should take this little trip.

These 2/3 engine folk are very defensive, sort of like us roadster owners when it comes to coupes

Personally/selfishly, I'd not like to do more than a tankful all-in for a trip (it's getting stupidly expensive this driving thing). Given I'm approx 80miles from Moffat, a run of around 150-160miles would be spot on! But happy to do whatever's required to get the best route while avoiding the boring stuff, i.e. M74.
