Williams Liverpool/Halliwell Jones Warrington

I have a crack in my 3rd brake light, nothing new there for some members! I contacted Liverpool Williams (my local stealer) after Playalistic and D6GMB informed me they had theirs fixed under warranty. Liverpool Williams had none of it saying lights were not covered under warranty. I explainied this was a common issue/design fault but to no avail. Not put off I contacted BMW customer service who put me in touch with Halliwell Jones Warrington who after a call to their under writers confimed they will sort this issue under warranty. I suppose my issue is why do they lie and blag assuming you havent done your research and why is there such a vast difference with respect to service and quality of response :x Out of intrest if any Merseyside guys read this thread where do you use whether it be Indy or Stealer?

I now won't use any BMW dealer within about 40 miles of Liverpool, as I've probably tried them all at some point over the last 10 years.

I had received good service from David Holmes in Stockport for warranty/scheduled servicing on the Z4M, but since they were taken over by Williams in August last year, and despite having the same staff, their service levels have dropped and you're lucky if you can get a straight answer out of them, and their promises to call back never materialise :headbang:

For any other work it goes to the guy who worked on my e34 M5s, but he's all the way down near Colchester. It's fine for me, as he's now also a friend so we go out for dinner/beers/shooting and make a weekend of it.

The only other indy I'd consider for my ///M to is Darren Wood in Stockportwho also provides technical help to the NW region of the BMW Car Club, and offers advice in the car club magazine.

SammyZ takes his Z4MR to a dealer in the Lake District - Batemans I think.

I'll take warranty work to my local, halliwell jones in Chester as I expect you have to go to the Stealer, that said I have wind noise in my right ear less after having the car 1 month (it went back the day after I bought it and they "fixed" it).

I used to use an indy in shotton/dee-side called Trenics. Never had any problems there but that was a while ago. Nice guy who ran the place and new his stuff (as you'd expect) and the business has expanded considerably so he must be doing something right? Considering taking the Coupe there when its due because i doubt the dealer stamps in the book on resale are worth the cost of accumulating them.

Cheers mmm-five may look into using Darren Wood when needed my sister lives those ways  I take it you have tried Autotech on the Dock Road? A family friend informed me they use parts from salvage motors and alike, not sure of the accuracy of that but such stories puts me right off!

I've used them in the past, but when they told me they didn't know how to do valve clearances (despite being run by an ex-Williams Master Tech) I started to get worried, and decided to move elsewhere when they left my self-levelling suspension at its highest level and expected me to take it to a BMW dealer (i.e. Williams) to reset it.

They also presented me with a bill about 6 months after a visit for work they'd supposedly carried out, but not charged for - obviously it was never paid, as I proved to them that they'd not done the work as they didn't have the computer equipment to do the job I'd asked them to do.

I ended up taking all my BMWs elswhere - David Paul BMW in Latchford, Warrington - for a while, but now everything goes to a small independent (ex Aston & Cosworth drivetrain & chassis consultant) called Darjac Racing in Earls Colne, Essex.

Roadtrip and I have both used Batemans in the Lakes. Couldn't recommend them enough. Wouldn't use Williams but Halliwell Jones Southport have done warranty work for me and I had no complaints.

Car went into Halliwell Jones Warrington today passed MOT :D and they replaced my 3rd brake light for nowt (goodwill and all that) Not getting to excited mind whilst I was there a customer was having a right rant about that crap service he recieved from Liverpool Williams and that Halliwell Jones Warrington was just as bad!

Sorry for going on but gave my car a hoover today, got some bits from the boot and upon closing the boot it just didnt sound right! Anyway had a closer look at the clear rear light they fitted no problems then I clocked this

They had left they fu****g torx spanner in the inner lip that runs the length of the boot, God knows how it closed! I may be over reacting but I just expect a little more professionalism from the Main Stealers  I feel like driving back up there (fast) and sticking that spanner where the sun doesnt shine! :voodoo:

There was just enough room to shut but not cleanly! Sorry not for sale haha like a saddo I just drove there with the spanner and a picture I took and made them eat humble pie! Im off work this week and have turned into a pensioner with all my complaining

And it wasn't me, before anyone asks :P

It's amazing how poor these dealers are, seems the bigger they are the poorer the sevice you get. Both HW Warrington and Williams get panned on a regular basis. My mate bought his brand new M3 from Williams (they were offering the best deal) and he drove it out of the dealers and stopped a mile up the road as it felt odd to find a flat tyre!! They apologised and said it must have happened on the 400 m drive from their workshops but seems to show a lack of care to me.
