Will you keep yours at the end of your PCP Deal?

Nah, I think most people are just thinking 'all that money going out' for a car sat in a garage. If you have the money to do it, then go for it.

I however want to make sure I get my monies worth in doing what the car is there for, moving around... a lot.

I can understand putting the zed away for winter if you are going to keep a car after the 3 years is up or you have bought a car out right and you have another daily drive.
But for me mine only goes in the garage when I can't get up/down our hill or i'm on holiday. I drive mine in all kinds of sh!te weather and love it.....anyway doesn't baking in hot sunlight do more damage to the paint!?

I'd agree with this, if you plan to give the car back after 3 years, enjoy it all you can.

So why do you clean your house (Mr W & Breaker).......it's not yours is it!!?? :P
Guess you are trying to say the house is part owned by a bank therefore i should not look after it the same ?
well 1 of them is  the others are not & even the one part owned by Barclays is worth far more than we paid so i think its worth cleaning & maintaining the collateral in it as opposed to a dwindling asset like a car

On the contrary, what I am trying to say is even if you don’t own your car outright why shouldn’t you keep it as clean as if you did own it!
I for one am not bothered what others do with their own cash, that’s up to them……..spend it on cars that lose value hand over fist or invest in bricks and mortar and then brag about having more than one house!
Life is too short, live a little spend a little.

If I still have mine it will be going back, I bought the zed to live a dream and its been a dream I have been living but I will get something more sensible

I agree with Lux, it's people's own money to do as they please, no different that having 3 holidays a year and nothing to show for it except snap shots. I use both my Zeds, just that I don't have to brag that I do a squillion miles per year and have to justify ownership :) In fact I'm looking for a Z3M Coupe this summer so that's 3 Zeds in the stable, shock and horror I won't know which one too choose :)

i am thinking about giving mine back next year when it is 2 years into my 3 year deal..... i use it everyday and have so far done 11.5k miles. to me it is just a rental and i will have no attachment to it when it comes to giving it back. so the 5k a year i pay is to rent a new car with no worries about servicing or repairs. i liked the fact that i only had to pay a £500 deposit on it

as for washing cars.... i have better things to do with my time so just get the local car wash peeps to give it a wash and dry for a fiver. i would rather spend the time driving it but i can understand why some people would enjoy the pleasure of washing it.... a bit like some people enjoy gardening i guess..... it's just not for me :)

im toying with the idea of a 335 coupe next as it will be more comfy on my 40 mile commute to work each day and a tad more practical

Understand what your saying, we all have better things to do in life but make time for our interests, mine of which is the motors I own, its nice when you have given the Zed a wash and wax and have it looking stunning, to then get the compliments from passers by, they wouldn't do that if its filthy and a pig sty inside. Your interests might be judo or stamp collecting for which I would say the same, I have better things to do with my time :) We all have our own interests.

Whichever way you finance a car it's going to cost.

Has any body actally sat down and done the sums?
I wouldnt fancy a pcp car - Maybe I'm just old school. :) It seems like a hire purchase deal of the sixties.

I washed and valeted my pcp sewing machine engined car today. What's so wrong with that. Will enjoy driving a clean powerful car over Easter. This bad weather is making a lot of people grumpy and judgmental.

I used to drive a company car, when I moved to a new company (anyone needing BI, drop me a line) I was given a car allowance. I have chosen to go the PCP route, allowing me to change my car every two years...or when I get bored.

I was in a similar position but did the opposite and financed the car purchase outright through loans. Seven years on and I have built a substantial amount of equity in my cars, all paid for by my employer.

I prefer to buy outright. I love my cars and like the freedom of changing when I want and no worry of not affording payments if my finances change. I had a car repossessed about 25 years ago after loosing my job and have bought outright ever since. It may not be the best thing to do financially but it's a nice feeling knowing you own your car.

I agree with Envy regarding the cleaning issue. If I had a car I planned to keep I'd get very involved in the detailing world. However, a PCP deal on a brand new car, which I plan to give back after 3 years would get a £5 jobby.

The same attitude as a rented house/ flat over being a homeowner. I think most people will take greater care of their own homes rather than rented ones.

I'm not knocking anyone here for cleaning their car, but in some respects the paintwork on a 3 year old car that has been washed 6 times might actually be the same or better than a car that has been regularly washed with a poor technique.

Like Breaker said, put two cars together, one washed every week and one washed every 6 months, give them both a good clean, and they'll probably look the same.
