Hmmmm...I did think 255 was a touch wide but then you and Gaz had them on your cars which were reps I know so I’m guessing those were less wide than 255...?
They will clearly fit the car John as a forum member has them ( German guy iirc) but for me 8.5j et35 with a 235 35 19 tyre is about as lardy as id go on the front of a E89 , they aren't exactly a nimble feel car at the best of times & i can only imagine that worsening with a 9j et29 wheel shod with a 255 35 19 tyre

I have those wheels fitted but my rear tyres are 275/30r19 so can't comment about the back. The fronts are 255/35r19 though and they rub very slightly when reversing at full lock.
It will depend on what tyres you run. I have Michelin Sport 4S which are known to be larger than other tyres at the same profile. When the fronts need replacing I will go to 245/35r19.
There's no problem with weight as the genuine 437m wheels are forged so weigh less than the standard setup, all Z4 wheels are cast so weigh a ton versus a proper forged set.

Ah right yes thanks very much for that. The wheels have 255/35 MPSS on the front so will rub slightly as yours do. They have 5mm left so won’t need changing for a while yet. Do you find any problems with handling..?
An important point to note is that vehicle tyre size also takes into account the vehicle weight. If you fit 4 huge profile tyres to a lightweight vehicle you are reducing the effective load across the total grip area. As the load is decreased the tyres ability to pierce water on the road is reduced as less weight is available to push it down. This gets worse as the tyre wears.
So, great in the dry but potentially dangerous in the wet!!!

Huge tyres on the front will pull your steering around with every bump and may result in early suspension/joint/rack failures, as well as ruin the enjoyment of the car..

More seriously though, pretty much every high performance car out there has wider tyres than our car including the new Z4 M40i.
Yup, that's probably more to do with tyre pressures.
