Will there be a Z4M ...

I don't care! The new Z4m is bloated and the interior is very 'American'. It'll be a Porsche for me next or I'll add a M3 to the fleet.
They are talking about putting a twin turbo V6 to the next M3 (yes, V6 :thumbsdown: ). So I'd be seriously surprised if they put a V8 in new Z4M.
I think BMW should think about what the M cars are. Seems like they forget what they were... They're becoming muscle cars.. I think an M car should not be a just more powerful engine. It should also be lighter than a regular model. Honestly, I'd prefer an NA engine too, even if it gives less bhp than twin-turbo engines. Just as long as they make the bhp/weight ratio higher than regular models, it will work. That's what matters anyways.

A twin turbo V6(current M engine) with a stripped out Z getting upto 370+bhp, maybe a racing pack probably would be good. MAke it outrageously fast and sporty. that would be my choice
Or put a V8, strip the car to recue weight, with a possible access to more power like the M5 when u press the M button, since the V8 will be going out with carbon emissions, more economy being more emphasis it might be a parting gift for the V8s by BMW M power.

The day BMW use a V6 over a straight 6 is the day pigs will be landing from their extended long haul flights.
The S-6 is the most balanced layout second only to the V12, with both primary and secondary balance and no need for (heavy) balance shafts like in V6s and for heavy flywheels, which is Bimmer 6s are so smooth and now a trademark of their engines.
Since Merc changed to v6s from S-6s for no apparent reason their smoothness has suffered and most road tests of their v6 cars will mention roughness as high revs, which is also seen in the V6 of the 350Z /Infitnitis.
Although it's not clear yet what engine they will use i think they will make a new Z4 M , as they sullied the M-line by making even an X5 M and X6 M and a M-trim for the new 7series.
If they do i think it will be the INLINE twin turbo N54 modified for more power, as will probably go in the next M3
