Will there be a coupe?

I wonder if BMW will build another Z4 coupe? It would be relatively easy to produce a fixed hardtop with the same shape etc as the roadster. I suppose you could just leave the roof up all the time and it's a coupe, but it would be better with a bit less weight and no complicated roof mechanism.

Hmmmmmmmm.

i think it is unlikely.
the only reason for producing a coupe would be if they were planning a strip downed version for pure performance. I'm not sure BMW have a history of that sort of car. And would there really be a large enough demographic to produce such a car (to buy as a new car)? ... i imagine the market for 2nd hand Coupe would be much larger, but BMW don't produce for 2nd hand market.

That doesn't seem to be a factor these days - every manufacturer seems to be making cars that people apparently don't want or need and yet selling them in decent enough numbers for every other manufacturer to want in on the act!

Not sure it's on the cards, but I think Wondermike could be right. Next year maybe? When the Z2 is out(?).

E89 Z4M coupe? Just look at the ones in the GT motorsport... If it was anything like that (with V8, without massive widebody kit and spoiler) I'd be first on the list

BMW did it with the 3 Series; there is a hard top Coupe E92 and the folding hard top Convertible E93. So in some cases they obviously feel even with a folding hard top, there is a market for a proper coupe. however, I think it's highly unlikely in this case. Which is a shame :(

It wouldn't look any different though! It just wouldn't have a join in the roof!

Nope! I'd be all over this.

i'd have 1

the hard top convertible is very appealing but the lack of boot space makes it unpractical, can you get 2 large hold alls in the boot?

Mine has a better boot than a previous version of the coupe......until you put the roof down, then it's miniscule.

As a fixed roof model it's not bad at all... I think it looks better than with the top down. But I don't look at it when the top is down because I'm driving it.. :P

IMO if you can't go on a holiday and put the roof down then you may as well just get a coupe

But I can.... and do quite often. It takes a bit more planning on the packing part of things. I went to New Mexico for ten days with my clothes, shooting supplies and two rifles, and a cooler (everything in the boot except the cooler.) I also went to LA with all my clothes for a ten day trip and some stuff to take to my condo in Phx, picked up my GF in Phoenix (with all the girly stuff they need to survive in the wilds of Arizona etc) and drove home for three days. I will be going to Vancouver island in August with the GF and all our stuff for 7 days... the oversize salon size hairdryer has to go bye-bye but all told it's do-able.

Sold!!!!

Taz, I spent 6 months deciding if the boot was 'OK" or not before I bought it.... (My M3 had a nice boot, even with the roof down)

Sounds like a great idea and then BMW can charge an additional £2000-2500 for it for less work/parts.

Does look nice though from the chops.
