Tirerack has BBS wheels that are 19 x 9.5 front and 10.5 rear that weigh just 16.5 front and 17.5 rear!!!! Super expensive but OMB amazing. I heard a formula that states for every one pound of rotating mass you reduce it is like taking 4 pounds of weight off the car. So if these wheels weigh a stunning 40 pounds less than OEM that would be like taking 160 pounds off the car. That's a weight difference you can really feel and measure! BBS FI-R

I understand power to weight equation but why buy a E89 then get hung up on how heavy it is :? they are never going to be svelte or lithe with the roof weight + mech they are carrying

Not sure what you mean? I can see getting the weight of an E89 Z4 down to around 3200 pounds for my Sdrive35i with its manual gearbox. With bolt on tuning equipment (JB4, catless downpipes, FMIC, chargepipe, silicone hoses, DCI) horsepower can be around 450.

In today's day and age 3200 pounds, including the aluminum retractable roof, is actually pretty light.

Aston Martin Vantage Roadster weighs hundreds of pounds more as does the Ferrari F12 and Lamborghini Aventador.

A four cylinder 2017 Boxster weighs 3,054 pounds (with PDK) and only puts out 350 hp.

A 2017 911 conv. weighs over 3,300 pounds and puts out 370 hp.

A Ferrari 360 puts out 400 hp and weighs 3,200 pounds.

Put some 255 mm tires up front and 295 tires in the rear on light weight forged wheels along with the aforementioned bolt-on parts and you have a car that will be extremely capable and keep up with much more expensive and more modern machines.

Hello,

normally you have rubbing issues at the rear at the inner plastic fender like you have if you use the standard rims with 12 or 15mm spacers. Therefore you need just to modify the plastic fender.
It also depends which brand of tyre you choose, last year I drove the Goodyear F1 Asymetric 2 which is one of the widest tyres I know, so you have to expect more rubbing than with the Michelin PS4S I use since some weeks.

Thank you!

That looks interesting! I wonder if he had any rubbing issues and what size tires he used. Looks nice and aggressive and from whnat I have read these wheels are wider and lighter than the comparable z4 wheels.

That's my car! No issues with rubbing!
