Will i have to pay for labour?

Hi all, after all the faffin cat related emissions light shenanigans, the stealers are convinced its the cats on the manifold which i had replaced in May last year, they want me to go to the indy that fitted it and get a copy of the invoice with part number etc, take it to them so they can cross reference it with their part numbers -if it all matches will i have only the labour to pay as its within 2 years old?-i ask because someone on service counter said i will have nothing to pay, whilst someone else on service over the phone said i will have to pay labour only -thanks

Can't tell you Andy, but another question is, why can't the dealer that fitted them in the first place do it again?

You know how much that cost you I presume.

It was an indy mate-indy told me if any BMW fitted part develops a fault BMW wont let them fit the replacement part.

This is where an indy works out expensive, i.e. if the first job had been done by the dealer, the refitting would have been free for sure.

Not sure what the deal is if they just supply the part for free, or if they fit it for free as well. You can only ask I suppose.

Yeah you are right mate :)

I'd have thought they'd replace the faulty part FOC, but you will have to pay labour Andy :(

Cheers Bing mate-its just that they dont seem to know what they are doing with one saying it wont cost a thing then the other saying it will cost me labour only :headbang:

Take the offence - "you are not going to charge me anything, are you ..."

Works a treat normally :D

Well, it does for me anyway.

Record your calls too - probably illegal, but at least you'll get someone sacked :D

Though if you want to play nice, PVR's is good advice. An affronted Dutch accent probably helps though :D

When I had my old Mondeo ST I had the EGR valve replaced by an independent it later developed another fault within the year and after showing them the invoice for the part and an invoice that a garage fitted the part, they replaced the part for free and the labour was free too.

I would expect the same from BMW too?

Have you not found out ye Andy?
Popped round to the indy after work for the paperwork, flew round to the stealers, the bloke i have been dealing with couldnt see me  ,but the bloke i did see said the part numbers all match with the faulty part, but the part has gone up in price twice since i have had it fitted!!!!
"Whats that got to do with me?"-i said "well i am just telling you he replied"
"I thought the part would be free of charge as its not two years old yet"-says i
"Well i thought you should know, anyway he will be in touch"
-not looking/sounding good at all

I thought genuine parts carried a 2yr warranty, so it's a like for like replacement unless they try and tell you the indie screwed up fitting it (and if you do that it's back to the indie for a stern word)
