Will i fit.??

Hi Folks.
Im a newby on here.
And looking at getting a E89 Z4 35I

BUT,,,,

As im 6ft 5" tall with long legs i sometimes struggle to get comfy in lots of 2 seater sports cars.

Ive currently got TVR Chimaera, and thats just about big enough, after all the MD back then was a tall chap,, Peter Wheeler.
But im looking to change, and fancy a Z4...

Ive driven 2 types of Merc SLK,s and both are no where near big enough. If i push the drivers seat all the way back, it creaks on the bulkhead, and or i cant recline the seat enough to be comfy...

SO, is there anybody on hear that can advise me if the cabin on a E89 will take a tall driver with long legs.

Ide happily go and test fit myself in a dealers car, but with covid etc, im not prepared to ,,"waste" a dealers time, thats if there allowed to trade...

I know i fit in the latest version of the Z4 after trying one last year at a car show...But ive never sat in a E89...

Thanks.

Im 6 2" and my knees are extremely close to the dash under the steering wheel, sometimes touching.
I dont have the seat all the way back as I dont want the squeaks that come with the seat rubbing against the bulkhead and I want the seat in a fairly comfortable position as well.
You would have to try one for yourself to see if you could get comfy as I sometimes get sore knees from the position I am in over a long journey.

I'm 6'4 and fitted comfortably in my e89. I also had a Chimera and I think the e89 is slightly roomier

Bear in mind though that some people have longer body than legs and vice-versa so what was comfortable for me, might not be for you

They're a friendly bunch here, if you put your area up, there might be someone nearby who could let you sit in - if it's dry, then sitting in it with an open roof for a few seconds should be OK.

I'm in E18 - easy London if that helps

I’m 6’2, I’m not skinny, and don’t have long legs  I actually had to stop my 35iS this morning to try and get the seat in a better position as Nictrix says if you have the seat right back it’s unbearable the noise of it creaking and squeaking against the bulkhead. My knees are even closer to the dash because the seat is an inch further forward than I want to have it.

I tried a new tactic this morning by raising the seat from its lowest setting to pull it further away from the bulkhead. I’m off for the weekend in it tomorrow so will see how that goes but I’ve a feeling I’ll be adjusting it another couple of times.

Funny thing is I didn’t have this issue in my 23i. The seat seemed to go slightly further back l don’t know if it’s a slightly bulkier seat in the 35 or it’s because it’s got the 14 speaker system so don’t know if that means the bulkhead protrudes slightly more to accommodate the extra speakers.

As others have said I think you’d really need to try one to see how it fits you

As others said it depends which bits of your body are long and how you prefer to sit...

I’m only 5ft 10in and I fit in ok but I do have the seat fully back, carefully adjusted to stop the seat rubbing on the rear bulkhead...

If you plan to do a lot of top down driving you need to try it with the lid down to see how badly your head intrudes into the airflow..

There’s a difference between squeezing yourself in to make it work and just bring able to sit with some range of adjustments and still make it work..

I’d be surprised if you can fit comfortably..but until you try you’ll never know..

6 foot 4 here and she fits me perfectly, most comfy car I have owned in terms of comfort and space. My knees easily fit under the wheel.
