Will emission light go out by itself?

Hi all, I have put some Cataclean in my tank today and the Emission light came on soon afterwards, if the zed senses the cat is running cleaner over time days/weeks would the emission light go off?-or is it once its on its on for good until turned off by a code reader?-I have read on here that the light on other zeds has gone off by itself or is this because of another problem?-I read the code as soon as I got home -the usual P0420-thanks

I think it should reset itself after a period of time Andy it if doesn't detect the same error again
Thanks mate-I have been trying to find out what a complete drive cycle is for these cars?

The last time it came on I drove around with it on for around 150 miles-I had to turn it off with my reader that was without cleaning it though
That's why I have not erased it yet -I am hoping it will 'see' its cleaner.

Sorry, I can't remember, but a good hard drive down an A road seemed to do it.
I would do the same -but I read somewhere not to thrash the engine with a warning light on?

Anyone know if I am right/wrong on this?

Ask JohnnyEssex, his came up on last years Kent cruise... :driving:

Can anyone remember roughly after how many miles theirs went out? -thanks

It's not done on miles, it's done on so many (10 IIRC) cycles of driving where it doesn't detect the fault. Therefore if you're only doing short journeys in gears 1-4 it means that you aren't completing a cycle.

Just delete the code Andy with your D900 reader and stop fretting otherwise you'll be a candidate for an early grave!

Yeah I know-its just that going to work week in week out then as soon as I go out for a decent run it comes on :headbang:

So by that reckoning it would take ten weeks to go out by itself?
