Will Coupes hold their value at 10 years?

Ah.....Thats fair enough....But £9000 is far from your quoted £6500..

And with Z4 Coupes starting around £400 more expensive then i will stand by my statement that its neither here nor there whether you have tin or rag,prices difference is negligable

Now most buyers would rather save a few £££ & go for a 2.5 than shell out the extra for the 3.0 . When i was looking the engine size made no difference , i knew i would have to pay more because i wanted the coupe
i appreciate there is no 2.5 in a coupe but even so i doubt a 06 example would under £7k

Its been on sale a while i think , mileage will put folks off but never bothers me providing condition & servicing is tiptop + above all reflects in price :wink: think mine is only missing heated seats,extended leather & upgrade hi-fi from possible extras & has full BM history all its life , bought at 89k for £9kish 8) now on 92k it would be impossible to guess the miles if you weren't told them
as for the 2.5 question ? if there was little difference in price then would always go 3.0 . if they were thousands apart i would consider the 2.5 as for my needs it would suffice & i dare say would equal the enjoyment i get from my current Z

Both are sports with some nice extras (both have xenons, bluetooth etc) the latter has a few extra toys.

Both have very nice & desirable two tone but neither have the Nav ?

But its cheap for a reason,not many people wanna buy an underpowered sports car..

To be fair the engine isn't far off the old 3.0i, but it's an SE which doesn't help, no heated seats, crap dash, no PDC, no MFSW so no options at all by the looks bar leather.

I would tend to think that Roadsters will be worth more or less the same as an EQUIVELENT coupe,as at present a 3.0si coupe and roadster with same spec and milesage dont differ by more than a couple hundred £,if at all...likewise with the M coupes and roadsters, if u look at low mileage examples,as i was when buying,i could have bought an identical M coupe for the same money as my Roadster,and my Roadster was valued at(via glass'guide/parkers/cap) at between £17400 and £18200,as was the coupe i looked at

Well, given how rare the coupe is, and how difficult it is to find one ... not to mention to find a nice one with low km's ... and how fabulous they are ... and the attention they receive ... and how totes amazeballs cool they are ... I am actually really surprised that they are selling for such low prices.

I've just done a quick comparison on carsales.com.au and on redbook.com.au ... and much to my horror and surprise, it seems that,roughly speaking:

*a 2008 build 1 series coupe BMW 135

has a HIGHER re-sale value than:

* a 2008 build BMW Z4 coupe E86 3.0si

Pfffffffffffffffffffft. Given that the Z4 originally cost a LOT more than the 135i ... and is now worth less ..., something very weird is going on in the market place.

P.S. Maybe this is because the 1-series coupe is still the current shape??? ... whereas the Zed E86 moved on to a new E89 design (even if the E89 is seen as a substandard follow-on by many of us)

The roadster was more when new... Now they are definitely less then the equivalent coupe.

But i dont think its supply and demand... Probably due to them being worth more as scrap metal :evil:

This all means that as responsible owners realizing that depreciation is generally the biggest single cost when owning a car, that we should all just drive the things to death in order to bring costs down.

Nice to look at in a garage but way, way more fun on the road, even if it gets dirty, scratchy, mucky, bumped and kerbed.

Not too sure really, If I drove an ///M Coupe as a daily it would likely costs me £350 per month in petrol, or roughly £100 a month if used as a weekender. Given their prices now would they really depreciate by £3k per annum, I can't see Z4MC's selling for £6k in 3 years time (assuming £15k now)

You'll never run an M on a ton a month. Ill go through half a tank on a saturday joyride, probably 2 hours steady driving. If I drive it as meant to I can watch the needle move :evil: thats with a full tank being 75 quid.

Any large engined car at the moment will depreciate like mad. We're on our way to a triple dip recession and weve just been downgraded by Moodys. ..

Most people are struggling just to get by.

I agree that newer large engine cars will depreciate like mad, but I can't see the ///MC being worth £6k in three years time.

People are struggling, but there still seems to be plenty of demand for ///MC's.

My £100 might have been a bit optimistic, but that being the case so would my £350, so still the same difference :wink:
