will a 0707 reg Z4m have all the manufacture fixes?

Hi Guys,

I am thinking of buying an 07 April 07 registered Z4m coupe that I have seen. If the price is not an object, then will this one be ok if I want one which has the manufacture bug fixes from earlier cars in this models lifetime, or do I need a still later registered car?

I hope my question makes sense. :)

Thanks

J.

Mine is registered End of April 07, and has the latest M features of:

- Dual tuner
- Aux port

Not aware of any fixes having been applied after that.

If Price isn't an object you can buy ours! :)

Most of the Z4MC's major components have been used in other cars previously, so even when it came out it didn't have any real "bugs" as such.
There are items which can fail such as rear springs, strut brace mountings, car "characteristics" which are out of the normal range of operation of a family hatchback, like the heavy going on the change from 1st to 2nd-especially when cold, and stuff which is just a bit annoying, like the always missing disc on the centre console to the left of the driver's chair.
I'm not aware of any bug fixes happening later in production, they were only produced for about three years, and the only change I can think of was they added an AUX port on later models in front of the gear stick.

Mine is a December 06 56 Coupe and has AUX etc There were no changes or updates as the cars were only made for 2ish years 06-08 and the engine and parts have been around since 2000 in the Z3M coupe and E46 M3

In terms of fixes the S54 in all the variants of the Z4M have the newer designed half shaft bearings, pretty much the only issue with the S54 power plant and are very reliable. Many E46 M3s are hitting 150-200k now and still going strong.

Not true, 07 model year had aux and dual tuner as standard. IIRC ISO mount and passenger airbag was also made standard then.

Thanks everyone,

So if it has an Aux connector I should be fine, please correct me if this is wrong :)

Thanks again

Mine is an 07 reg (didn't check build yr), but doesn't have Aux port :(
I thought the aux port was always an optional extra like the cup holders (which mine also doesn't have :( )

On the original post, I don't think there was much of a recall list for the Z4MC as such, as other have said there are things to check... I'm sure someone put together a comprehensive list but failing finding that why not grab a local forumite for an independant opinion on viewing...

Here is the original brochure.

Says nothing about the AUX cable but is 07 so if thats true then thats the reason.

Yep I think you guys might be right.
I still have my brochure and price list, so checked - see below.

NB. The brochure I have is Sept 2007 publication, but my car is march 07 reg which implies a possible pre-07 build.

... you lucky 07 build owners :)

Worth thousands more :D

To be honest, the dual tuner is the only thing that is useful as that keeps the TMC working at least.

is everyone forgetting that the earlier z4m vanos hub bolts were Hex and were later changed to Torq with new mounting specs, the older type thats in my car is prone to backing out.

google "bmw z4m vanos hub bolts" and you'll see what i mean....

luckily its a relatively cheap fix when done with the valve inspection, ill do mine within the next 2 years and while I'm their will upgrade the vanos hubs to the beefier aftermarket ones available :-)

Wasn't aware of that one neither, do you know the details of when it changed or if can be easily checked through build/vin?

Back to zed school day today :)

seems to be earlier style hex bolts that eventually back out, but they later style have been known to do the same, but their was a new bolt the preceded the early style hex bolt thats in my car, or at least which i believe to have in my s54, again, luckily this is a relatively easy fix, it will be costly however so its best done during valve inspection, seems to happening at mid life type miles 30-40k, preventative maintenance will eradicate the issue.

Guys,

The car I was looking (07 reg) at fell through, so I am back to square 1. If you are thinking of selling your M Coupe then please drop me a PM. It has to be sub 60k miles and have SatNav, heated seats and hifi upgrade at least.

Thanks also for the all information to all above.
