Wife's Z4

Its a bit strange is it not?
It has the same wheels as our 2010 23i and it has the same side indicators which I thought were replaced when the 4 cylinder models were launched.
Just looks like ours though

Wheels are the same as my 2012 2.0L 20i as well. Indicators also the same as those were only changed with the LCI in late 2012/2013 (depending on location). The model is in the pics is a pre-LCI with a 4cyl. The 20i and 28i exist as both pre and post LCI while the 23i and 30i only exist as pre-LCI

It must be just a late registered pre LCI then?

It is! The LCI arrived in the USA a little later than in the UK so you'll see plenty of 2013 pre LCIs across the ponds. Generally, most bmw models and engines arrive there 6 months to a year late.

Hi Don,

28i is a great choice - it's a 2.0 ltr 4 cylinder twin turbo, I only know that because I fancy one for my next car, maybe in a couple of years time.

Welcome to the forum

It's an amazing engine. I spend a lot of time in my parent's 428i M-Sport; cracking engine. Personally I prefer it over the old 3L non-turbo. It may not sound as good but performance is better, fuel consumption is lower and it weighs a lot less which reduces under-steer and makes the heavy E89 a bit more nimble!

That said, the N20 is soon to be replaced by the B48 which promises another 10% increase in power! It will be a while though before we see that on the Z (if ever or only on the next model)

Billy, I thought the fuel consumption was pretty good.
On the trip home we got 35 MPG with the cruise set at 80 MPH.
NONE of my Hondas get that good

Mine 2.3 6 cylinder manual only does about 29 MPG UK, so 44 is amazing. I suppose I do give it some beans.

I think that's because you probably have the 4 pot, not the 6. Why not take a photo of the engine and post it, then we can confirm it for you for sure!

Oh, it's a 4.
'Nuff room in there for another!
Been around motors most of my life

In that case its a 2.0L twin turbo, not sure what's going on with the VIN and why its listed as a 3L! BMW does not have any 3L 4 pots! Great engine!

The vin doesn't say its a 6. The vin shows it a 4
When you enter the vin in a data base that's the model # shown.
So for some reason the model # for that year is 3.0 SDRIVE 28I
Even has it on it's CarFax

Then there is something wrong with the VIN decoder or database it is linked to. There is no such thing as a 3.0 28i...

You have a Z4 28i with a 2.0L 4 cylinder N20B20 engine also called a E89 Z4 2.0 sDrive 28i 8)

Honda list
Past-600Sedan, Prelude, raced a CVCC in SCCA
Present-03 Accord 4 dr V6- Now sons car, 09 Accord Coupe 4cyl now daughters, 13 Ody my DD

Had a TR6 and sold that when I moved to Charleston from Seattle and I have a TR7 V8 presently

Ha  And I was thinking motorcycles

Wow - Interesting choices  - TR6, what we in the UK call a 'hairy chested' sports car but I guess compared to your muscle cars a bit weak  carbs or fuel injected?

The originally engined TR7 was a very poorly received sports car in the UK and there were very few V8 versions so what you have is quite special and unique. Does it have an original fitment V8?

:driving:
