Hi all

Time has come to replace the wife's ageing e46 325i. Said, she has always liked and wanted a Z4. She has never sat in or driven one yet.
Has to be red, white or blue. Should be a piece of cake then!
Being slightly more choosy,i have been looking for e89 23i 2009 in all the usual places, yet to find something.
She doesn"t seem to realise that this takes priority over new curtains for the stairs window - women eh!
The search continues, but no rush.
Will continue to read the forums in the meantime, to collect more tips from the experts.

Thanks

blue ones are difficult to find. took me 8 months. worth the agro and wait tho. good luck. i think there is one in scarboro on autotrader :)

I’d make sure you test drive the e89 23i first. Wouldn’t worry too much on colour or year. Test drive it, make sure she likes it. Then continue the hunt.

My wife doesn’t particularly like the Zed enough to drive... and that suits me fine. Just make sure she likes the car... the way it drives before putting too much time effort into finding the correct spec car. Otherwise you might be back to square one in a few months!

I'm guessing that translates into "manspeak" as she has always thought they looked good!

Definitely worth getting her to drive one before you get too wrapped up in searching for a specific model in a specific colour - just to be sure she really does like them.

FWIW if you do end up looking for a 23i I wouldn't rule out a 30i - it's the same engine, just a different size so running costs are pretty much the same.

Hope you get the car sorted before the curtains!

Thanks for the advice and tips so far.

Will she like it? Her daily transport from 2007 to 2016 was a 20+ year old 944,she loved it (i didn't from the first time i drove it).
I am thinking a Z4 will be like driving a Rolls Royce after that.

And no, the curtains are still her number 1 priority!

Hi, I have just swapped a 1999 Z3 2.8 litre for a 59 plate 3.0i SDrive DCT and absolutely love it. My husband was really upset to let the Z3 go but I find the hard top more year round friendly and not having to faff about manually putting tonneau on and off a better option. I also found the Z3 quite heavy on steering although my husband had no problems. Sure your wife will love it, the shape is timeless. We live not far away in Derby and we have great drives with our friends who also have an older Z4 in the Peak District, The Roaches, Snake Pass to name but a few. We are also going to Zed Fest in Shepshed for the first time in August.

Its funny you should say this. I want a Z4M and, after discussing this in depth with my mrs, I'm looking for a mrs that wants one too.

It sounds like you are really pleased with yours Rory35i!

And I'm so jealous of the roads you have on your doorstep! :(

z1ggy, have you seen this one? https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=115974

Seems to fit the bill.

It might not be the colour she wants but there's a lovely Space Grey one with a lovely red interior near me if your wife would like to consider a different colour.

Not far from you & would be great for a test drive at least :driving: . Not mine but I've advertised it for a friend. I do know it well & it's a cracking E89. Sounds lovely too just ticking over. Worth a look maybe? Oh & welcome to the forum btw
