And coasting is just a big no no... For both the above reason, and the previously discussed fuel usage (coasting engine uses fuel, slowing in gear doesn't).
If the engine is running, it's using fuel whether coasting or in gear!
It's not like you coast for a great distance. Slow down then disengage when the revs are down. You're already on the brake.
I guess all these answers show that "modern" engines and gear boxes can handle a lot.
Been driving manuals for 36 years, the last 17 almost exclusively manuals. Never had a transmission or clutch failure-had 160K miles on the Probe GT on the original clutch when she was totaled.
Nosa, you'll love the Dragon. It's fabulous in the Z, but if you have anything small and sporty it will be a blast. I've seen all kinds of cars on it, and the vans driving it will frustrate you.
