Wife and daughter's holiday not going to plan!

As some may know, my wife and daughter are in Malta on holiday/ visiting her parents and family (they all live there).

They haven't been for 3 years due to a tiny little virus which needs no explanation.

The last time they went my father-in-law had a heart attack on their third day and was in hospital for the remainder of their holiday. So that ruined that one.

They have been in Malta for four days. This afternoon my wife's younger brother had an accident while trying to mend a pipe above his staircase. He fell down a spiral staircase and hit the stone floor below head-first. He is now fighting for his life in hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

Another holiday ruined. :o

On a serious note, hope it all works out ok.

On a flippant note, I can see why you're enjoying their absence. Not quite sure how you've survived this long!

As we go thru life we are faced with many challenges. Be it work, finances, car issues etc. The most important items in life are the health of our loved ones and ourselves. When we are unfortunately delt with tragedies such as this ever thing else is not important. Praying for you and your family for a recovery.

Joking apart, that really is serious and sorry to hear that. Being apart is also not nice at this time.

Nasty injury....hope he pulls through with no issues Pondy.

I fractured my skull falling off the ladder a couple of summers ago, fortunately the bleeding went out, not into the dark cavenous void of emptiness.... imagine how upset PVR would be if i wasn't here.....

Thanks folks. If I'm honest I didn't post this as a "poor me and my family" thread.
It is more that I am annoyed my daughter's holiday, and to a degree the wife's, has been spoilt yet again.
My wife is now having to deal with it all and my daughter is having to sit around, bored shiteless, in a flat while they all run around like headless chickens. I do hope the BIL is OK, naturally.

I am quite heartless, admittedly. There is a good reason for it, honest. :)

Sorry to hear their holiday hasn't gone to plan, but I wish your BIL well with his recovery.

Sorry to hear this Pondrew I hope he recovers soon, that’s a nasty thing to happen.

Quick update as of yesterday.
It appears not to be as serious as first thought. Cracked skull and localised bleeding, but no brain injury. The holiday may not be totally ruined after all.
Lucky boy by the sound of it, especially considering what a stupid thing he did; balancing a step ladder right against the edge of the top step of a spiral staircase. It obviously moved slightly, tipped one leg over the step and the lot gave way.

Good to hear about that, and are you sure it is not John’s twin?

My BIL has never been the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I wouldn't associate John with him. That would be an insult! :o :D
