We had just spent a few days with our friends in Durham - left at 930am to begin our 340 mile trip back to Lymington to catch 6pm ferry - everything fine until we were approaching M40 - warnings about delays etc so tried an alternative routes - 10 mile stationery queue leading up to J9 
trying to skirt around the M40 and eventually using the Fosseway and meeting more queues we eventually got to Lymington for the 8 pm ferry !!!!!!!
After a lot of stress and cursing have just found out a mother in her 20's was killed at that junction just after noon when she collided with a lorry - she also had her infant with her who has been taken to hospital but thankfully is okay .
Our thoughts go out to her family - why do these things happen ?
