Why was my Zed higher on one side??

Good Afternoon all! I'd like to share my story about my z4 rear ride height.

When I put down deposit on my Z4 it was on the condition it had a fresh MOT. It failed on a fractured rear spring which was replaced by the private seller.

After I bought it it seemed to me like the side which was replaced (n/s) sat higher though it drove and handled fine. I checked the fitment on the spring and to my newbie eyes it seemed to be sitting correctly. I did find that it wasn't a genuine spring. For piece of mind and to ease my paranoia I got both springs changed for genuine springs when I got it serviced and the ride height is now sorted. Dealer did say nothing seemed mechanically wrong before replacing.

Below are pictures of the springs. You can see the coiling of the springs is different at the ends. What's your thought's guys? I'm curious whether it was a spring or something else? Can I flog these springs or should I bin em?!

TBH I would always replace both at the same time to avoid problems like you had, but obviously the previous owner just wanted cheapest way out.

Still good you got it sorted

Just bin them, otherwise whoever buys them will have the same problem and probably come back to you.

Bin 'em - we don't want dodgy stuff sold via the forum.

I have a half cover which marked my paintwork terribly - no way I'm going to sell it on to any members of the forum.

:driving:

I have seen so many 3.0 e85s with jacked up rear end s because the rear coils have been replaced with standard springs after MOT failure

My point exactly. I don't want to give anyone dodgy bits. Its a shame as the replaced one is less than two months old! I might hold onto them in case a fellow member needs a temp fix and I can help out.
