Why so difficult choosing new alloys for a Z4!!!

Sorry guys just had to vent my frustration after spending countless hours on the internet trying to decide which alloys to get, As with all my previous cars I like to mod them but dare I say tastefully  , Having owned many cars in the past as I tend to get bored after a while the Z4 is the first BMW I have ever owned and im totally smitten by it love the curves/lines and the sound of the 3.0 straight six is gorgeous.
I bought the Z4 about 5 months ago and right away looked at ways of modding it top of my list was a hardtop which I bought then after lots of deliberation on wether to go with the M look or the aero kit as both look good but felt the aero kit was a better choice as I'm not into this M scene where living hear in Chelmsford Essex I see just as many coupes as roadsters and some have the M badge when there clearly not M's  so didn't want to pretend my Z was something that it wasn't also I can't say Iv ever seen a Z kitted out in the Aero kit around these parts only pics so a chance to make mine bit different yet OEM and NOT a single M badge fitted  ( don't get the whole M badge scene :? )

Anyway back on track my Z currently has 108's which I love and badly need a refurb at which point I will get done or exchange for a already refurbed set and keep them stored but I also want to a new set of alloys and this is where I'm struggling with either to get 19's or 18's?? Getting new alloys is always a massive decision and will transform the look of any car so getting it right is crucial, One decision I have made is that the new alloys must be black as the 108's are silver I want a totally different look with black alloys.
I have a sterling grey Z so the black alloys should look good but that's as far as I have got, one thing I do like to do when modding is to try and keep it looking OM and not Chaved up!
Any of you guys got suggestions sensible ones please.

Hello mate and welcome to the forum.

It really depends on your budget but have a look at cmwheels and bmautosport

Hi. Budget is less than 1k and that includes tyres so pretty tight budget. I don't mid aftermarket alloys as for me it's about the look.

Brand new 224's on german ebay for about £600.

Gorgeous alloys but pretty much simulier to my 108's ie thin spoke design. Although I love the thin spoke design I think to really show them off they really cry out for drilled discs behind as they show so much of them.

im in the market for a fresh set of wheels in the next week or so, im dreading having to choose a set, ill have a "shortlist" of about 30 knowing me

I'm sure Mr Wilks will be along soon with some suggestions and, possibly, pictures of some wheels that he has available for you to consider

Your worse than me! Iv never struggled before choosing alloys for a car but some reason the Z4 it's different it needs a 'classy' wheel befitting with its prestige looks.

Perhaps you need to look at this thread for some pointers

Thank you for the link

After looking through that thread Iv now added another style to my current list which is the csl's they seem to suit the Z very well and when fitted look OM :|

Being a big fan of multispoke alloys I'm Really surprised no ones gone with a multispoke design alloy while the MV's come the closest to multispoke design, also reading through that thread it's clear BMW are good at designing alloys lots of good looking OM rims for the Z one of the reasons why I'm keeping my 108's as spares.

MV2s are much more common on e46 3 series cars so that's all I think of when I see them, don't look they belong on a Z4. The 108s, 224s etc are unique to the Z4.

Some nice big Alpina multispokes might look good, not the bear claw looking ones on the actual Alpina Z4 but full spokes all the way around.

They were a no-cost option for the Alpina RS but I don't think many were specc'd

The OM multi spokes look ok and better than the Alpina multi alloys the centres don't look quite right on them makes them look sort of dated.

Found this pic which looks epic and I'm guessing there 19's

Seems the guy originally fitted the Aero kit then rebuilt it as a M replica

Found these but there's no side on shots so can't tell if the spokes sit flush or come out from the rim which I dislike also there 18's and the spokes go right to the outer edge making them appear bigger

Sterling grey Se you should find many pics of black alloys as most have been done before

my own choice would be black backs/inners with silver spoke
