Why should you get your RTAB limiters in place / polybush

this is an extreme example but i found a great video of these actually deflecting.... imagine your lovely setup rear Geo, now as this shifts around thats all out the window...

great video so you can see exactly what's happening, if you look on the side of the cage in extreme cases the bush contacts the bracket... i just fitted some brand new stock bushes ( already had limiters) today but it seems my current ones are in good condition, with more power and grip than most i thought id preventatively swap them, fwiw i used a proper tool for bush removal purchased from the states and it made life seriously easy. Definitely a home job with the correct tools.

Wow!

Excellent video.

Are the limiters required? I understand they are not an OEM fitment?

Also - Best place to buy OEM bushes? and which do I need? I want to preventatively replace all of mine.

I am hopping to be fitting my new bushes tomorrow. With my DIY bush removal tool and DIY limiting kit. I really am a tight ass!!

well the limiter ors poly bush ( which ever you choose) basically stop the side to side movement you see in the above video...

you could easily make RTAB limiters and sell them for a good deal under-cutting the likes of turner.

I will make them on request if mine turn out ok. But i dont want to start steeling business.... Plus theirs are all anodized and look cool mine will hopefully be functional that's about it...

I also made some adjustable camber arms. I am hopping to get it all set up and handling as best i can this year I cant wait to try my LSD. Then work on the brakes and paint work its a long road i am traveling down with this car!!

pics of your camber arms please :-)
Once fully done buddy :-) I have also ditched the back box + quad in favor of a 100% home made quad witch weighs have the original system. In the words of Colin Chapman add lightness :D

finished changing the bushes for new items today....

never again.... lol.. easy items but their position and tools needed make it a royal pain in the ass....

incidentally my old ones looked fine... 20k interval these should be changed imo.

Got mine fitted on saturday, Geo on friday, can already tell the difference.
Rogue Engineering RTABS black

Along with new front wishbones.

Next is H&R ARBs and suspension is sorted.

I had the RTABs on my 2007 ///MR done a month or so ago @ 37K miles. My car felt all over the place under power, especially on bad roads.

Thanks for posting, great video.

Indeed it was before. Under hard power, I would have to steer the car to correct where the front end was going because of the rear "steering" due to the movement of the rear trailing arms.

It was rather unpleasant to say the least, the car is much better now the RTABs have been changed to poly items.

the initial video wasn't mine, just one of found off the internet which illustrated the need for limiters or a larger polybush., however I'm more than happy to record a similar video with the limiters in place...

Those bushings are a bit worn, it is already torn in places (so irl this effect may be a bit less).
But those bushings recieve forces in a lot of directions (not only by cornering), so it affects wheel geometry.

However this goes for all suspension bushings that are soft or in bad shape. So every bushing in the suspension setup is a point of attention, not only the rtab.
The video is very demonstrative though.
