Why people even buy Roadsters

No real point in my owning a roadster really because as soon as the sun comes out, I take the motorbike out!!

Mind you, when I am out in the Z4 and the sun comes out, down the roof comes. It is a nice way to drive! :driving:

They all wished they'd bought a Coupe :poke: :fuelfire:

+1 :poke:

I think a factor in it though is probably that hardcore top-downers who have it down in everything but rain tend to be enthusiasts, and then there are people who buy roadsters just to pose in during the summer (when there's no wind to blow their hair around) but have the top up the other 80% of the year.

I try to have it down as often as possible but if its a very short drive I wont bother unless I know it'll be safe parked up with the roof down.

If its lots of motorway driving again, thats not fun at 80mph unless you are on your own!

The other reason could be they have 2 cars and forget they can put the roof of one down, or the motor has failed!

The top is almost always down unless:
1. I'm going to work in my suit.
2. My wife and I are going "out" and she doesn't want her hair to get messed up.

I love the line above: "I was always told if you drive a roadster with the roof up, the storm outside better have a name".

Can I re-use giving credit?

get in the car drive.........

stop put roof down...........have a cigarette.............put it back up

drive on.........

well don't want to get ash everywhere............ :tumbleweed:

OK we do put it down if its not raining when we go out for a drive...

To be fair on the drive back. Everything had their roofs down. Its been a beautiful day :D.

Since Iv had the gapTech module, then I find its not such a pain to have the roof down :P

i've had my top fown all day this week but only ever have it down in nice weather...... dont want to look like a knob when its cold out.

i did notice it getting a bit windy in the cabin when going over 40mph so might have to invest in a wind deflector..... the irony being i dont have any hair to blow in my face :D

So. The last 6 days have been nothing but glorious sunshine where I have been. I've been driving around with my top down everywhere! :D :D :D :D :D.

But, I must pass about 2-3 Zeds every morning on my way to work. And numerous MX5's and I havent seen ANY with their tops down?!?! Why would you even buy one??

What are your opnions of these canvas enclosed people?

Whereabouts in Notts are you Moffmo? I'm a new coupe driver and have yet to see another on the road in Nottingham - I've seen a few roadsters but none have looked like they'd take part in a little acknowledgment so haven't bothered trying!

The city centre mate! Aye I know what you mean. Seen alot of roadsters and I always look at them but they never seem to be paying attention!

Well if you see a stratus grey coupe driving around town give me a wave! Haven't seen another in Notts so bound to me!

Well if i did use my car to commute it would be as above this time of year top up going in and top down coming home :D

What winds me up is nearly all soft top drivers round here have the top down windows up may as well by a hard top with sunroof i can understand on a motorway as it can get a bit noisy at high speeds very noisy when you get your foot in as i always drive windows down (prob why my right ear is fucked ) unless its to cold or have a passenger they dont seem to like all the buffeting.
