Why mod the clutch valve?

Hi guys,

Newbie here, seen a lot of posts on moding the clutch valve, why do ppl mod tab clutch delay valve,

Does it make t smoother ???
 
In short, yes. Much smoother shifts. Well worth doing, has less effect on ///M cars

Quick search should bring up plenty pages :thumbsup:
 
Yes way smoother

You only have to mod it if it's still under warranty, if lots not you can just remove it all together

Just removing is the same as modifying, just it's very obvious you have removed the CDV.

Regarding clutch wear, it will probably prolong the wear of the clutch.
 
Once you remove the valve, the gear engagement is instant, instead of delayed, so as srhutch has said, it should prolong clutch life if anything.

Mine was taken out a year ago, and really transformed the car (IMO)
 
Puzzeled my clutch works witout it being done car goes like a rocket with my 9stone weight . :thumbsup:

under the car towards the back of the engine, kind-of in the middle... I don't have pics as I don't have the car anymore and Citroen don't fit them :D

What's the difference on the M then? Didn't see in written in last nights thread. Have to say my clutch is plenty fast enough and I'm certain it's as BMW intended.
 
Some ///M owners don't notice a huge difference as the ///M gear box is quite stiff anyway

I'm not sure if mine has a different gearbox, but CDV is still in place and clutch is fine. IIRC it's there to protect the dual mass flywheel from sudden shock.

That's what bmw say but what a load of rubbish, why would there be any sudden shock?

It's intended for people who can drive manuals (Americans)
