It's a ploy by BMW to ensure that the stealers get a constant stream of worried Beemer drivers hammering on their doors wanting codes read... :wink:
It then gives them the opportunity to suck hard through clenched teeth and replace virtually everything until they finally cancel the code. I know this sounds cynical but having first hand experience with my wife's X5 and a local dealer it opened my eyes to their trickery... :roll:
