Why don't Z4 drivers wave at each other?!

Always wave at e85's and other roadsters, with their roofs down. The more traditional looking, the more likely to get a response, is my experience.

I distinctly remember that when my dad had his subarus, early 2000's that virtually all other subaru drivers would wave to eachother, irrespective of whether or not it was a wrx sti or a wagon... they all waved :(

My best friend has a Mazda MX-5 and they seem to enjoy this stone mason's type agreemt where they give way, wave and nod etc yet other Z4 owners I've passed (even with the top down!) don't even blink!

In Sweden practically every single Z4 driver I've met has waved.

When I owned mine it's not something I ever considered, and even I had I don't think I would have.....I'm not sure I get it tbh.

Now I have a car that I am unlikely to see another the same on the road ever, if I did I'd be surprised but not think about waving etc....think it's more for old cars and old people wearing flat caps driving MGB's LOL :D

always nice to wave, with hand, only when roof down .. so if you cross the channel in Normandie, if you see someone waving you .. it is me :driving:

I'm a e89 driver and I always put hand up and usually get a recognition back, we are not all old and boring ;-)

I always flash my lights and give a wave, i don't care if they respond, God told me to dot it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I'll put my hand up that I don't wave. I will when I see another member I know but otherwise nope! I had a BMW mini back when they were new and people did that, jings there was even a 'mini etiquette' handbook they produced and sent to owners (wtf??). Anyways I didn't do it then. My mum did when driving my car and I used to tell her off because I bought the car because I loved it. Not for waving lol!

Plus a lot of the Z'd drivers I see don't look the 'enthusiast' type and will think I'm more bonkers than I already look (that's cause I always wear a bennie hat, even in this weather )

The R32 seems to get waves from quite a few jap cars but not the Subaru boys. It's like a in written rule they don't acknowledge each other

Lets face it, the majority of owners buy a Z4 because it looks good, and has the badge - enthusiasts are in the minority.

When I used to have my defender my arm used to ache! Everyone who has a defender waves at each other, if you run a disco you are considered the devil!

Another waver here, limited response unlike my previous Elise & smart roadster coupe-everybody waved!

Except now the 451 is so common no one waves anymore.

I seem to find North West London full of moody z4 drivers. :(

I wave at all zeds as they pass, i get most response from 3 owners. I think they are true enthusiasts, and I get some waves from 4s. I feel that those who don't wave back are the general driving zombies on the roads nowadays with no understanding of club scenes and have a generally poor driving style, and use their cars as a means of transport following the bumper in front. :driving:

Most of the z4s I come across were 2.0 roadsters driven by women...I'd feel a right tool waging.

I did get a thumbs up from a forum member as I was passing through Birmingham
Whats wrong with a 2.0 litre its still a zed???

It's like asking your sister for a striptease and saying "she's a girl, what's wrong with that?"
