Why don't Z4 drivers wave at each other?!

My best friend has a Mazda MX-5 and they seem to enjoy this stone mason's type agreemt where they give way, wave and nod etc yet other Z4 owners I've passed (even with the top down!) don't even blink! Are we not one large, slightly dysfunctional family?? Only had my baby 10 days so maybe I'm being a bit desperate but I thought I was part of a club now. *sniff*

I get quite a lot of waves down Berkshire/Wiltshire way. Recently it went as far as we pulled over in the next town with another person in an MC to chat about the cars outside the local dealership at night! You might just be having a bit of bad luck.

I have to agree with the OP I still await my wave to be reciprocated.
Had an MGBGT in my youth and everyone with an mg waved.
It will improve as the years go by methinks.

Out of four recent attempts whilst driving I have had.....
1x toot of a horn
1x flash of lights
2x just drove on by !!

50% success !
Also one guy who was parking in the gym car park got talking and we were there for over 40 mins - really nice guy

Let's make a real effort to prise the miserable Zedders out of their shells !!!!

Yeah !

Most of the z4s I come across were 2.0 roadsters driven by women...I'd feel a right tool waging.

I did get a thumbs up from a forum member as I was passing through Birmingham

^indeed there's always a woman driver when you come across another z4.....
They don't get these sorts of things, they need all their attention to keep the car on the road while fixing their hair

Too busy with their hair to notice what's going on on the forum :poke:  :hairdryer:

I alway's wave.... but then again I wave at every woman

I had a 40minute chat with the owner of a white Coupe the other week, and had a wave from another MR owner. There are a couple of miserable farts who drive the opposite way to me on my commute. I wave every morning, and get no respons. Damned if I'llbe as miserable as them tthough!

I flash lights and nod to the few I see Ipswich/ Suffolk way and get little response. Much to the amusement of my wife who doesn't get it. Still I will continue he to it. It may well be a reflection of how poor the e85 lights are and perhaps they do not even know I am flashing them. Perhaps I should try the hanging out of the window and waving like a madman.

I get very few nods, waves, flashes or any signs of acknowledgment from the miserable sods. Admittedly I don't think they are forum members but even so, what does it take! :x

However the one and only time I have been acknowledged was by a fellow forum member who nodded and then smiled. Although haven't seen him since lol.

Got a wave today z4 on the road out of hayfield to glossop.then passed within 10 ft of an e89 at ladybower ...nothing I went to wave an they just turned away.????
M

e89 drivers tend to just stare and look shocked that they've seen another e89 in existence. resent the old and boring stereotype though!

Last few mornings I've seen a silver E85 (reg OO04 ***) driven by a young lady who looks to have a small club sticker in her back window, but as we pass on a fast road I don't get a chance to see what it is, possibly Pistonheads. Gave her a flash (of my lights) this morning but, nothing!

Now I see more and more around I'll give some a wave and see if I get a response

Never really thought about it, but I only wave at E85/86's, no other reason than I just don't think to wave at E89's

I quite often pass the same white E89. I waved the first few times and got nothing back. Sat in traffic one day, my heart sank as in the distant slow moving traffic was the E89, complete with miserable driver. As we passed at about 5 mph, I raised my hand, he just looked at me, looked the car up and down and carried on looking straight ahead as we passed. I obviously don't know what he was thinking but if I had to guess, I would imagine it's along the lines of ''I'm better than you and my car is also''.

I suppose it depends why they bought their Zeds? I wave and flash my lights and get a response from other 'enthusiasts' - there's little doubt that they are enjoying their ownership as much as I am. :driving:  Those that don't wave perhaps have their Zeds as a result of other reasons - to them it might be just another car? :tumbleweed:

I'll keep waving though - 'tells me more about them than it does about me' - that way we might encourage more responses.

We shall see. . .

:driving:

The only enthusiastic wave I've got back is from a guy driving a Z3MC when I gave him a thumbs up. Other than that I've got a half hearted wave back from some guy in a Z4 a long time ago. That's all in over 2 years.
