Why does my car beep when I remove the key?

Every time I stop and remove the key, the car beeps at me. I make sure the handbrake is on.

Any thoughts?

Mine has an occassion to beep as well just after shut down. There are so many sensors in these automobiles that spurious signals run amok. My headlights are left in auto and every so often my hand is on the door pull just as I kill the ignition, so I may be inducing my own beep fest.

Either that or my Zed does not want me to leave...

I think mine does it and assumed it was due to auto lights being in the 'on' position when parking in garage?

I'd say the car just fancies you and is giving you a toot.

Mine only beeps continually if I leave the lights on, doesn't do anything if they're set to auto. It's probably a bomb.

I think they can beep if the engine oil is low?

Can't take out the key if it ain't in park...

Mine does it when lights are on AUTO. Nothing happens if lights are turned off first.

Long shot but do you open the door before you take the key out?

Correction: yes you can do this in SSS (and I think seatbelt warning too).

I need to get it working on my tablet again - was fine on Win7 but the Virtual Machine it uses for XP does not play ball for me.
