Top down your having a laugh sorry i know i drive a roadster but top down in this weather no way i would be cold and deffo get a lot of abuse
as for the beep mine normaly does it when i first start the car has done a couple of times while travelling on the motorway maybe its the cold wind while driving that sets it off as it is at the front of the car.
It will beep below 3C when you start it, and it will beep again while you're driving if the temperature drops below 3C. So it may have risen and then fallen back below 3C, which is why it might beep more than once. It's to warn you that the perfect conditions for black ice have appeared, so be careful not to stack it.

Just driven 170 miles with the top down, through central london too, no stupid looks or comments.
If you're in a roadster, I was always told the roof should be down. Otherwise what's the point? Cold? Put on a scarf and turn the heat up. If the roof is up, the storm outside better have a name....

Damn i think i should have got a coupe... my roof stay up unless its sunny and atleast 20 degrees.... which in the UK a good summer gives about 3 days a year.
Mine seems to beep when its 3 degrees outside and then when I stop it does it again...... combining it with the oil light. Strange..... Ive just given BMW £522.11 for an inspection 2
Seems it also depends on if it's programmed or not:
Basic setting Ice Warning Active/not active
Active:
If the outside temp drops below approx. +3°C the acoustic ice warning is issued.
The outside-temp displayed flashing for several sec. Display reverts back.
Not Active:
If the outside temp drops below +3°CAcoustic warning,Permanent Display)
