Why do potential buyers fail to show? Grrrrrrr

What is it with selling a car that attracts daydreamers that phone or email & say they have cash in hand or the finger on the button ready to transfer funds. So you put others on hold until they can come for a look, then they don’t show!

Do you think listing it at so low a price is putting people off?

Could be any number of reasons but one possibility is a scammer who realised during conversation that he might not be able to ply his trade after all so didn't show up?

I think price is very fair - don't be downheartened, the world is full of idiots like that and someone is out there with your cash in his pocket LOL :)

It pains me to see these going so cheap. Dammit why didn't I buy a coupe?! Only kidding, had the top down and the revs up earlier...I can't imagine spending life in a box :P

Sorry to hear about the woe of a no-show person. I wouldn't give any potential buyers favouritism - I mean, they need to look at the car before they part with money, right! So take viewings and then go from there. Use your own judgement about the validity of a buyer - traders or people with mouths bigger than their backsides etc.

When I was buying, I rang the seller and booked the viewing. Went to look at my baby Z4, and after the usual checks etc, put an offer in. I had finances all ready for the car but in the end, you need people to show up, not just say they have the money. Good luck.

Car looks great by the way! Best colour ;)

Thanks for that! I put one guy of coming who was ready to come with the cash, to be fair to the first guy to let him have first refusal, after a no show the other guy had had second thoughts! I won’t be doing that again!

You've got to be cut throat about it. I've just sold my Elise and told all callers it would go to the 1st that paid a deposit regardless of who called first. In the end a German paid a deposit without seeing it.

You have to be hard and sell to th firs person to showwith the cash or a sizeable deposit. It looks a fantastic car at that price, depressingly cheap!

It's just plain bad manners when callers fail to show after agreeing a time... :x

I personally wouldn't talk about your price in the advert at all with regards how it compares to other examples: any serious buyer will know it's priced well/correctly.

Best of luck with it and hope you get some serious calls over the weekend
